Is Cornwall quiet

We were down in Cornwall April \ May time and went into the local hotel \ pub on 29th April (Friday) and it was £8.60 for for a pint of beer and 500ml bottle of alcohol free cider. Not too bad we thought.

We were in to book a table for Saturday dinner so on returning the next night same drinks were £11.??.

Upon complaining was told the prices should have been put up on the Friday but they "forgot" as it was holiday weekend and the start of the "summer season pricing"!
Which is why I would never go near a British holiday in the summer. Disgusting profiteering and greed. Europe every day for me, thank you!

Disgraceful. Would never pay it. The campsites we've stayed at in France, Switzerland and Italy had not raised their prices since last year.
We didn't, 3 nights on solar ,batteries and gas and we were just fine.

As you say, but personally prefer not to be ripped off when I can enjoy uncrowded roads and great facilities just over the channel.

I understand your sentiments however we currently prefer to support the UK economy given the current financial pressures.

I prefer not to support those who are wilfully ripping their customers off, irrespective of where those businesses may be. If they chose to to disrespect their fellow countrymen by imposing swingeing price increases, when similar businesses in France and the rest of Europe that we regularly use are chosing not to, I will continue to spend my money with those that are not ripping off their customers.

Ouch. Bit harsh.
I think it’s quite hard running a business in this country now with all the bureaucracy and everything the government make businesses do, Filling forms etc. Also the price of everything labour and materials that they have to pay for.
There is some businesses that are ripping people off and taking the proverbial but I don’t think it’s all of them

So why are the camp sites I visit on my travels in Europe managing to keep providing a competitive service? They are suffering some of the challenges that we are, albeit not the self inflicted ones. British tourism has rinsed the customers who have chosen to stay in the UK because of Covid, they have exploited a 'captive' market and continue to do so. I accept that there will be some decent businesses out there, but many are demonstrating a level if greed which is entirely unedifying and unforgivable.

Think this country is one of the hardest and most expensive places to run a business.
I’m self-employed and my materials Have gone up 25% in a yesr. Then there’s all the personal stuff, food gas electric fuel so this drives up the money I need.
Then there is the fact that a lot of these businesses have probably had to borrow money to stay afloat after covid
But there are companies that are just profiteering from people wanted to go away on holiday after a bad few years of covid
