Penne Pathfinder
Hello, we have brought out first home and it has a covenent saying no caravans or boats.

We were hoping to put our Penne Pathway folding trailer tent on the drive (it's a detached house with own driveway). At first I thought oh that's okay it's not a caravan but now the more I think about it and with only 2 weeks to go until the move I'm starting to worry that maybe it would count.

Anyone know anything about these things?

Thanks so much ❤️

I would say it's a trailer.

You could always ask your solicitor, to double check :)

Lawyers may be required, but is it a caravan? No. Is it a boat? No.

If you think logically the covenant is to stop drives being filled with big things that aren't the "normal". A trailer isn't that

Still dropping clangers and making it up as I go along
Have a look around and see what else is parked there. Too late to worry about it now .put it on.the drive and see what happens

Well that`s our 14th year & still loving it.
My Ex still lives in our first house, the Covenant said No Poultry Pigeons or Pigs, and No Caravans or Works Vans to be kept on the property, 35yrs on there are Caravans and Works Vans all over the place.
So I would say you have nothing to worry about.

Will it block a neighbours window? If not dont worry.

Also as above, any works vans? Or vehicles over 2.25 ton?

Covenant's are often unenforceable, and thats if anyone has the will or the moral high ground to do so.

We have a similar covenant, 50yr old property. We keep a caravan on drive. No-one has commented (yet). We have no idea who would attempt to enforce it 🤷‍♀️
Sure you're safe with trailer tent.

Yes, thank you
Knock on the neighbours doors offering to sell pegs and heather, give them something else to worry about! You will be fine, a covenant has to be enforced by all the residents and will cost them money to set up an action, its not a builders van, a commercial vehicle, a caravan or contains poultry or obstructing anyone view. After 10 years off the site most builders could not care less the covenants are there to sell houses they don't want builders vans, boats and caravans blocking or obstructing driveways and views when selling houses on new builds.
