I have brought Copilot for my Ipad mini, it picks up GPS signal OK out of the motorhome, but loses it in the motorhome has anyone else had this problem and how did you sort it.

Mine works fine.......most of the time.
On rare occasions it can't find its position when we start out but within a few miles it seems to catch up.

I assume your iPad is a cellular model with a sim card.
If not it won't have a GPS chip and will only find its position by Wi-Fi. That means as soon as you leave the house and the range of your router there will be no position data.

Its a Ipad mini no sim card, the spec say it has GPS and and GPS icon lights up in the bottom right hand corner.

Bad news!
Not sure which Mini you have Lee but I've just had a look at the spec's of the latest models Mini 2 & 4, in case they had changed and they definitely don't have GPS on non cellular versions.

They do have digital compass and will use a wi-fi signal to help with location but it's not the same as GPS.
We have had 3 iPads since they were first launched and that has always been one on the differences between the two versions.

As Clarky says - only the cellular iPad minis have their own GPS as the two parts are combined together.

My iPad mini is a wifi only version so I had to buy a separate bluetooth gps unit.

I got this one

Amazon product ASIN B00COLB9FS
though it has gone up in price quite a bit since I bought it.

The Bad Elf ones are better I think but much more expensive.

Once tethered to this unit copilot works fine on my iPad mini though the bluetooth connection does make it power hungry so I have it plugged in while using.

Thanks Clarky, Stroppy Bird, I will have to get a Bluetooth GPS unit Then.

The Garmin GLO seems to get good reports and is used extensively by yachtsmen and pilots I think.
I bit more expensive though.
