Ok, I’m probably looking for the impossible here.

I would like to get a small inverter, 1,000w or 1,500w, but I don’t have anywhere to mount it beside the battery.

Is it possible to get some sort of connector so I permanently have cables attached to the battery with some sort of quick connector. When I need the inverter I dig it out of the garage and plug it into the connector. I’ve not seen anything I think would work.

Anyone come across one or better still have a working set up?

I had a 3.5 ton tipper trailer that was powered by the engine battery and it had a very heavy duty coupler for the connection for the live and negative it was a flat grey two piece arrangement one bolted to the van and the other bit was on the trailer so might be worth looking at that option Ifor Wiliams, Brenderup, Wessex Trailers are all worth looking at to see if they could point you in the right direction.

Why not use something like the connector you get on garden power tools (lawnmowers etc ) ? Leave one end fixed to the battery and the other on the inverter, just plug in as needed. Obviously using the correct size cable. 👍

Do a eBay and Google search for Anderson connectors, they go up to 450a

Because it would melt! They are only rated at 10A AC..........

You need to use appropriately rated Anderson connectors depending on the side of the inverter and the DC current required. Make sure they are genuine Anderson and not copies.

You are going to need a minimum 120a to handle a 1000watt inverter, be safe and use an Anderson SB175 which will handle 280 amps, it will cope with a 1500watt inverter as well if you decide on that.

I have the same issue as the OP Andy MacD
my plan is the same , Anderson connectors and ‘as and when needed‘
Any other suggestions for a Ducato PVC
I had considered one of the floor lockers under the table but i’m not sure how difficult it is to get the cables to that remote site in a Globecar , it would mean going from the underneath of the drivers seat to the locker in the floor

You might mean one of these

Thanks Stealaway . Looking at the Anderson connectors if the inverter is powered down then I don’t think a kill switch is necessary and saves me making a permanent hole in the seat base cover to fix it. Most if my van mods are done in such a way I can remove them without any marks.

I only have a 12mm discreet hole that the key passes through, in the base of my side seat.
Switch is covered by the white plastic spray paint can lid at he top

I can see that as the ideal way to set up however my battery is under the passenger seat with no room for an inverter and nowhere else near to fix it hence need fir quick connect system.

two very different solutions discussed for two very different problems :)

For the OPs requirement, I would agree that Anderson Plugs are the way to go (y)
