Inverter problem

Bought a Victron 300 watts inverter, positioned just behind the passenger seat in 2024 Chausson X550 on Ducato base.

Tested with 230 volt inspection light and all fine, then I plug in the wife’s Babyliss hairs, 41 watt shown and the green light shows for a couple of seconds, red warning light then illuminates and power shuts off. Power taken from 95 amp amp battery.

Any ideas why this is happening?

The hair straighteners might not work with the inverter. Mine is 1200va and doesn’t.

Something to do with the way the electronics pulse the power or something.

Is it a pure sine wave, hair straightener only like them…

300w isn't much. What are your hair straightens rated at?

Are hair straighteners really only 300W that sounds very low

My wife has some posh GHD things that are 300w.

The inverter is 1200VA Victron and it won’t run them at all. It just makes a funny noise and shuts down.

What type of battery is your 95Ah? Can it actually sustain the inverter current which for 300Watts at 12V is some 25Amp.

Hair straightener seems nasty, 40W nominal unit pulling over 800W peak. Maybe similar case?
