I am considering replacing my little 300 watt inverter with a 2000 watt one, now that I have 230AH of LifePo4.
The inverter I am considering comes with 25mm2 x 70cm long cables, which are long enough for my set up.
According to 12v Planet this size cable is 170 amps and over the 70cm will give a voltage drop of 1.53% which is fine.
I need to fuse the positive cable at the battery end.
The closest amp rating Mega fuses are 175A, which is higher than the cable rating it would be protecting, or 150A which is lower than the cable rating but also less than the max amp draw of the inverter which is about 170 amps if drawing the full 2000 watts.
Would I be better off using 35mm2 x 70cm cable, which is rated at 240 amps, and fusing with a 175 or 200 amp Mega fuse ?

At least 35mm2 and 200A fuse, I got on mine 2kva inv. on 70mm2 with 250A fuse.

If you don’t have a hydraulic crimper, or a funster near by to borrow one, buy them already crimped. There are eBay listings with various sizes and lugs, or message your requirements. Don’t do a hammer crimp, you will waste a good cable, not worth it.

Thanks for the advice.
I will get 35mm2 cables and fit a 200amp mega fuse.

Update
I fitted the 2,000 watt Edecoa inverter yesterday.
The highest draw item I will be using is a 1,400 watt air fryer so after fitting the inverter I ran the air fryer for 20 mins.
It ran fine drawing 1,450 watts when the heating element was on and 35 watts when the element was off.
It appeared to run about a minute on and a minute off so actually taking just over 700 watts.
Nothing got warm while running it so happy days.
Thanks for everyone's advice 👍
