Just got my IDP 1968 & wondered if anyone else has one yet? On the front under International Driving Permit it say's No.

Mine doesn't have a number inserted there?????????????????????

Thanks

We didn’t need one before why would we need one now?

The number should be that of the issuing post office. You'll need to take it back for them to add it. The lady who issued mine a couple of days ago was teaching the other staff who are waiting to be inundated with requests:)

Do you need one for each euro country
There are two main types for europe. The 1968 one covers most of europe and lasts 3 years. The othe only lasts one year but you need it for Spain, Malta , Cyprus and Eire. Having said that you might not need either. I think people are getting them if they are going to be travelling shortly and out of the country over 29th March as they might need them in the event of a no deal Brexit.

If you're not travelling I'd wait as you can now get both types at most post offices easily for £5.50 each. You might not even need them, fingers crossed.

Is there vat on the cost.?
If so the first brexit tax.

Some people are just hedging their bets. If we have a no deal Brexit and therefore lose reciprocal recognition of driving licences the thinking is that this will be required.

I think I have one hanging around somewhere issued by the RAC (I think) 1968/70 or there abouts I wonder if it's still valid .
Was never ever asked to produce it .

Blimey, I notice they're 2013 and look the same as the one I had in 1994! Was sort of expecting them to have moved on a bit in their format for some reason.

Are the new ones any different?

Very similar to those in the pic - still using recycled cardboard for the covers

The format was laid down by the Conventions and needs about 140 countries to agree to change it - worse than the EU.

Be aware the IDP only lasts till the expiry date on your UK licence, so our 3 year IDPs ony last us for 9 months :(

OMG what’s wrong with everyone......isnt running out if Paracetamol and Bananas more important :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Stop panicking guys

Went to post office this morning and asked about driving permits and was told if traveling before brexit use form available now if traveling after brexit wait as the permits will be different to the ones available now.

Just some feedback......been to get my IDP this morning.....the lady was still learning as she went along. The main point for me was that I could not have the three years on it as my licence needs renewing every year for the extra groups so only runs to the expiry date at 4b which in my case is January 2020. Did not show my passport as my licence is a photo one but that does not mean thay she should have asked for it. Hey ho this could all be a waste of time and money but who knows....did not want to leave it to the point they run out of licences just before we travel. Although we will cross the pond at the start of March the start date had to been 28th March 2019 for the one I wanted.

As far as I am aware in 1968 the Vienna convention was signed. This was so licences were recognised by all signatories. Therefore nothing to do with the Eu.

Oh dear can we panic now or wait until March

Well let's be clear, you still need Breathalyser kits for use in France, honestly! well that's what the ferry companies will tell you, who still have a few (thousand) to unload at £6.99

I have still got two of those in our van. Will sell £1.00 each. I think they may be out of date. But they was u/s anyway.

We could test them on @Clive at Thetford, then light the blue touch paper :drink: :hi5:
