Hi all. So we only do probably 3k miles max per year for the last couple of years in our 2013 50k 2.2l Peugeot Boxer. Servicing cost is getting quite high now, along with all the other stuff in life. Had a full service last year along with the mot. Is a full service every year really worth it? Would an interim service this year and major next year a good way to go? Or best to just get a full service each year? Is there even really much difference between interim and full service at Halfords other than an air filter change? Thanks

I usually just have an oil and filter change if I haven't been anywhere much, full service every other year. Never used halfrauds though.
I would do the same, minimum oil and filter every year then the lot every 2 years.

Finding someone with a ramp big enough is usually the issue.

Whatever you decide, I'd avoid Halfords like the plague, unless you want to have unnecessary additional work carried out.

I service ours every 2 years, do about 5,000 miles a year

Agree, they messed something up on my car years ago and denied it. Also my mates car phone kit they installed was bodged in. Avoid at all costs

I do what the manufacturer recommends. I certainly don’t bother with adding services that aren’t specified. Modern synthetic oils are expensive and far superior to the ones we used to have to change frequently.

With modern synthetic oils it's not really necessary to change the oil every year I would stick to the 2 year service interval.

More important to take the van out for a run of about 20 miles every 3 to 4 weeks to get everything up to working temperature, helps to keep the engine and running gear in good nick.

Yearly, or every 5 thousand miles for an oil change. Manufacturers, and dealers are there to make money, not to make your vehicle last as long as possible. Was in the trade long enough to know good oil, is the key to a good engine.

Why don’t you get in touch with the RAC there prices are competitive and they come to you and you don’t need to be a member, I use them for all my servicing on my motorhome and you get your booked stamped.

Thanks all. I've never really had a problem with Halfords to be honest for those who don't like them.
I think I've always just been quite obsessed with getting a service stamp. Does it really matter so much with a little used campervan/ motorhome anyways when it comes to selling (hopefully not for a long while for ours anyways)

One of the best ways is don’t start the engine where possible unless you are going to drive it long enough for it to reach operating temp + 20 mins. Short runs are not good for any engine in the long run.
