I'm currently in l'Ardeche and plotting a route north for next week.
I think we'll losely follow the Rhone and Saone.
But not knowing the area I'm looking for tips for interesting/ pretty villages and towns along the way and I know of no better bunch to ask than you knowledgeable lot.
Gorges, waterfalls I'm open to suggestions
TIA

It might be a bit far too the east but thanks, I'll bear it in mind 👍

If you are following the Route de Soleil then Cluny, (north of Macon), is worth stopping for a look around. Some good restaurants, and a decent market on a Saturday, as well as an interesting town in its own right.

There is a good Municipal site within easy walking distance as well as an Aire, (no services), if it is not blocked by cars.

Tournous has an interesting “Hotel Dieu”, (old hospital)m worth visiting, and also has a Saturday market.

Love Cluny.
