Well, we have today signed on the dotted line and purchased a new Auto Sleeper Broadway EL and would like to ask you out there about where to go to get the best insurance. TIA

Depends on your ciscrumstances -> for us caravanguard worked out cheapest as a new to motorhoming first timer, ended up as 1500 cheaper than next nearest quote - and would have been cheaper too without EU cover.

Try Comfort, Caravanguard, others as suggested here. Something IMPORTANT to bear in mind with the new motorhome is are you having a Thatcham tracker/alarm fitted, as if the MH is over 50k there is a GOOD chance they will not cover you AT ALL without one (and may not accept the default factory one, given they are sometimes bypassable with 30 seconds with OBD access), this depends on the insurer. They willl usually give a 3 week grace period to get one fitted. So your first thing is probably to work that out, and make sure the alarm is acceptable to your insurer (clue, not all are).

We ended up with Vanbitz for the alarm and S5 tracker in end, but I'm aware that was far from the cheapest option, but we are also reasonably happy that we can monitor the van (in storage) with its immobiliser fully set, which wouldn't disingage without one of us with a phone being present. Other alarms are available, but you do get a good discount from being a fun member from them.

We went with AIB for our brand new A-Class. We're both in our 50's and I was expecting a big premium so was pleasantly surprised with just over £500 per annum through Aviva. I did mention this forum when they were quoting me as there is a discount offered.

We have just signed up to AIB on your recommendation and I was surprised how much was covered especially the European 9 months breakdown (6 in any one trip)
£200 less than our Adrian Flux renewal.

Good afternoon folks. Just joined the forum after buying a part converted Mercedes Sprinter yesterday. I tried my usual insurance broker (who insures my company car etc) and was quoted £1,100 a year; which seemed a bit high. :(

15% discount until end of December for MotorhomeFun members. You don't have to have it fitted by then, but have to pay for it. I'm getting an alarm and tracker from them but no van yet!

As starquake said, a lot depends on circumstances. I'm currently juggling insurance companies for the arrival of our new PVC in January. We need quite a high mileage allowance, at least 10,000 +. Comfort give you 'unlimited' mileage, Caravan Guard don't. Comfort can't do green cards for non-eu countries, Caravan Guard do. So, I'm going to contact Adrian Flux next. I'd make a list of all the things you want to do and base insurance on that.

We're with caravan guard as I think mentioned, but if you check threads on here paying excess when/if you pass 10k is acceptable and not unreasonably priced.

The other thing is caravan guard is EU wide breakdown too -> as PART of the cost. Thats a massive saving over (many) other insurers where you'd need a seperate policy. We went with them due to this, not because we plan a lot of EU touring (we don't) but because situationas CAN change, and it wasn't a lot more to have it versus have not.

Yes. Caravan Guard is looking likely. For an extra £100 I can go to I think 15,000. With the breakdown I'll have Fiat as it will be a new vehicle.

I use the brokers Lifesure who got me cover with one of the biggest insurers at half the price elsewhere
