Insurance pays out after long dispute about towbar

I declared a tow bar on my Ford Kuga. Insurance noted it but no added charge.

I declared a towbar on our Moho. Insurance company not even interested. But at least it is declared.

I’ve just had a detachable towbar fitted to my VW T6.1 and notified my insurance broker Brentacre who have noted it with my other modifications with no extra charge.

This raises a point: is he your broker, i.e. agent, or the insurer's agent?

If insurer's agent you have effectively notified insurers, but if ot is your broker and he did not pass it on then insurers have not been notified.

I always prefer to communicate with the underwriting insurer, because that will be who pays any claim with their money, not an agent or broker.

99.9% of insurance is placed via a broker not the underwriter it’s is the brokers responsibility to collect and share the information. It is your responsibility to check the policy once issued. Should anything be missing the. Go back to the broker and get it adjusted….most underwriters are not or will not deal with the public and general admin which is why underwriters engage brokers.
