Insurance grey area

Hi there we have purchased an iveco euro cargo that was used as a race truck. However looking at insurance to insure it as a motorhome is absolutely extortionate but to insure as a race truck is 10x cheaper. Does anyone know the ins and outs of what we could class it as a race truck? Or know what the specs are for it to be a race truck. I know to insure as a race truck it’s limited use and mileage etc which isn’t a problem as we’re not moving much at the moment. It’s such a grey area, Thankyou!

If you make any statement to an insurer that you know is incorrect the policy will be void. I'm not saying your intending to do that but just something to consider.

Hence why I’m wanting to make changes that match specifications before I go ahead with anything. I just don’t know what those specifications are or if they’ll be possible. If they are then I would make the changes

Just wondering if you have a claim with it insured as a race truck and it isn't adapted to carry another vehicle and you never tow one on a trailer you don't race and have hardly ever if at all visited a race track whether they would pay out?

Shouldn’t need a tacho as it’s private use not commercial.

Mot is irrelevant to use if not commercial.

Ah but it has a garage that holds a bike and I will be towing. We may also visit a race track but aren’t these questions irrelevant to my post? I’m talking physical specifications of the van.
