Fiat adria 2009 runs perfectly we are now 1584 miles into round EU trip over last 2 days yellow engine light sometimes comes on with error code 638 which is Throttle Actuator / control range, bank 1

I delete error code but it pops up sometimes only after slow speed manouveres and getting up onto levelling blocks its fine on Motorway or long runs ???

second issue is last 3 days Thetford loo shows red light when empty and cleaned, the float is ok and no dirt or blockages inside ??? just a minor irritation I like things working right

The wires for the toilet sometimes snap/corrode so check them from the outside.

I had that error code on 2010 Ducato. Cost me £665 to get it changed. Light not come on since. It is a well documented problem on similar aged ducatos water gets in the electrics.

checked the wires all are OK outside and inside where the switches are someone said there could be a switch in the cassette ????
No switches in the cassette, just clean up everything underneath and pull off cable connections, clean up and put back.there is a circuit board under the flush control that may need a clean, but that's difficult to get to.
Can't help with the throttle actuator.

.already cleaned the circuit boards easy to access them on my van will have a go at the wires
i will have a look at the AGR valve throttle body and give it a clean

You may have the old and not very good throttle body fitted. There is a later, and better part. But of a bugger to fit and requires a loom conversion too.

Not a switch, but a float with a magnet attached that forms a circuit when full, so a switch. Mine was jammed in the off position and yours may well be jammed in the full position. Only way is to look into the cassette I’m afraid.

Does you toilet display show full when the cassette is out?

If yes it’s a wire/circuit board issue, if not and only when cassette is in place then it is a float problem.

The throttle body although garage insisted on fitting genuine part when cheaper copies are available
IMHO I would agree with the garage, as they have probably fitted the modified component, so the problem shouldn't occur again 🤞

looking online there seems to be many replacement updated units for sale but a fraction of Fiat price , by IVECO, Marelli etc same part number as Fiat

Sorry,
Didn't realise you were using the main dealership. In that case I would imagine they were completely ripping you off.
I stopped using my main dealer when they insisted on replacing my timing chain at 30k miles. They wanted £3000 for the job.
I refused to take their advice and went to a local (trusted) garage.
Cheers
Happy motorhoming

Almost certainly a throttle body issue. I went through the whole "we'll replace this and see if it works" gamut, costing me nearly a grand. Our nearby Fiat Professional sorted it including a new loom for around £550 - can't remember exact price, 6/7 years ago when we abandoned our first Norway tour because of exactly same symptoms.
