On one occasion on a campsite in Spain the electricity had been off but when it came back on there was a power surge which caused a lot of damage to all the electric systems & anything plugged in to some vans. Obviously not an issue if you know about any work beforehand and can unplug from the source. But it had me thinking of if it occurred either when we were out or asleep. Is there a 'simple' ie preferably just plug it in gadget that would prevent the surge & any subsequent damage? Basically the simpler the better as my working knowledge of the van electrical system is basic. Thanks

The AVS30 has been discussed many times. Make sure you buy from a reputable source as there are a lot of counterfeits for sale at low prices.

Sorry for my ignorance but where does this fit. I sort of assumed there would be something that went between the electric supply and the EHU cable.

Apologies, I have just found the thread this was on. I must have had a typo or similar when did my initial search as couldn't find much. Will have a look at the thread now.

The AVS30 works. I’ve fitted it after the EHU socket as there was plenty of slack in the cable, so an easy job to splice it in there. It isolated the EHU supply several times when we were ‘camping on board’ on the Greece to Italy ferry and the ships generators were running but before sailing.

I had an AVS30 on the last two vans originally fitted for Greek feries.

Not fitted on current van, I have a Multiplus that has over and under voltage protection.
