Hi all.
We have just returned to UK after living in France for 18 years.
We have brought our 2010 french registered Hymer Exsis I 482 to import it to UK.
We now have MOT and TOR (Transfer of residence duty relief) But we appear to be in between two stools.
It used to be the case that if the vehicle was over 10 years old it didn't need an IVA
From Gov. site:
You do not need vehicle approval for:
cars and minibuses with 8 passenger seats or less (not including the driver) over 10 years old
You will need vehicle approval to tax your vehicle if it was first registered on or after 1 March 2001 with EU type approval and it’s either:
a car or minibus with 8 passenger seats or less (not including the driver) and with a CO2 emissions figure in g/km
(Our CO2 emissions figure is not shown on French reg.)
Then there is the GB conversion for UK (Lights, Fog light, Speedo)
Again, from Gov. site:
Age of vehicle:
If your vehicle is over 10 years of age, based on the date of first registration, it is exempt from
this VCA procedure. Please contact DVLA to discuss vehicle registration and do not apply to
VCA. If your vehicle is less than 10 years of age, based on the date of first registration, and has a
European Certificate of Conformity, with 51 or 52 numbered items, that shows the vehicle was not
built to the UK specification at the time of build then a GB Conversion IVA would be required.
I have spoken to DVLA who have passed me to IVA centre who have sent me to DVSA.
Each department has said that it is the other's responsibility.
It appears we are in limbo as the rules are being re-written post Brexit so nobody knows which way to do it.
As I understand it, a COC is not available from Hymer if vehicle is over 10 years old.
Anyone have any experience of this ?
