I'm thinking of installing one of these Chinese diesel heaters into my garden workshop.

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
I know a lot of folks like the idea of one of these in their motorhomes.
With the full exhaust they are supposed to be fairly quiet. I wouldn't like to use one on a site, but wild camping would be ok?

Thoughts folks.

Robert.

Don't see why not. I think there is a more portable version around now. I have one in our barn and one in the VW type 2 camper. Brilliant and quite possibly quieter than the suitcase types

Hi Robert from what I have read on these diesel heaters thus far, its worth upgrading the exhaust silencers to make them much quieter. The pump ticking along can also be annoying, but mounting it correctly under the van and maybe encapsulating it in sound deadening foam seems to be favourite. There have been many threads, along with you tube videos on these heaters, and they are becoming more & more popular, especially with LPG becoming harder to find in certain areas of The UK.
Paul Two on Tour & John Jaws have fitted them in their workshops, and Paul has one in his van for yonks now, and has tweaked them with various controllers & after market upgraded parts.
Good Luck.

I have proly fitted about 15 of them now.. Mostly in motorhomes but a couple in work vans and a good few in workshops
The one I have in the workshop and the one in the motorhome I have always run on heating oil

Do NOT install like he did. The air inlet for the burner should be outside as well. It is effectively a balanced flue system.

I'm used to the Ebesrspacher versions from my ambulance days. There could be 10 inches of snow & my ambulance wouldn't have a drop on it, yet it had sat at my door on-call all night. They didn't have the exhaust though & were noisy, but having a proper exhaust is a great idea.
