QNAP are a manufacturer of network attached storage (NAS). They do simple 1 slot enclosures up to multi drive RAID enclosures.
The drive enclosures run a Linux lite shell.
It’s enough Linux OS to run additional apps. Like an app to manage backups, a virus checker, etc,
It seems they have one to store photos but, not upgraded, it has a vulnerability.

I was explain more generally about what QNAP NAS is.
My QNAP NAS runs a Linux lite/like OS and you can add extra apps to it.
I haven’t added photo stream so didn’t know about the OS it needed.

Edit: the QNAS OS is QTS and is a Linux derivative. yy
