We shall be at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta again this year on the general camping at the Parsonage Farm Site you just pay when you arrive there is no booking it is the closest you will get to the actual Fiesta.

MCC also have a rally there on the field next to general camping no booking for this either just so long as you are a member of MCC.

Look forward to seeing Funsters there we shall be flying our flag ;)
kind regards Kate

This is one i have written in my diary, so hopefully will be able to make it.

Go on, rub it in. We resolved to go to Bristol this year only to fins the dates clash with Malvern

Don't want to steal anyone away from staying at Bristol :imoutahere:but possible to do Thursday day & night with Night Glow at the Balloon Festival then go on to Retro Festival or Malvern on the Friday so best of both worlds?! We did the whole Balloon Festival at Cotham RFC last year & although the rally was one of the best socially just one day & night at the Festival was enough to see almost everything. The Thursday was busy but really enjoyable & everything was the same on Saturday (again with Night Glow) but they closed the gates as a safety measure as so packed & too busy with people to look at the stalls so not so good. Would love to go again but only on the Thursday/Friday.

Look forward to seeing you there if you go our kettle is always on pop and say hello :). Have you ever camped on Parsonage Farm? We have never had a problem there the gates opposite are always open. Never seen them closed in the years we have been going. However Saturday night is realLy realLy busy. You can see all the fireworks from the campsite and most of the flights dont even have to venture over if you dont want to . Like the idea of just doing a few days there and onto Malvern ect for others thanks for the idea. We shall be staying for the duration as we enjoy it so much x

Any new details for the retro festival? It hasn't been mentioned recently.

Know from the threads that @Landy lover was having a meeting with the organisers in February & that the rally cost will be no more than last year at £99 booking with RVOC/Fun (much more booking direct!) so hopefully more will be posted soon. Have seen that their website http://www.retrofestival.co.uk/ has now been updated with this years event & more being added every week (y)

I went to the Balloon Festival for the first time last year, definitely going again this year. The fireworks at last yes was worth the trip alone. So resolved to give Malvern a miss.

See you there. Al.

Just to follow on from Tonka & tempt Funsters to the Balloon Festival - this was the Night Glow (Thursday) last year with the balloons being lit up in time to music:

It was such great weather and a great sight last year that I don't know if we dare go again in case it doesn't live up to the same expectations :D

The night glow is just brilliant

And the fact you could sit in your motorhome (or in @Popeye 's drinking his booze and eating his snacks) and watch the poor devils who had paid a fiver to park in the farmer's field next to the rugby club, spend hours and hours trying to get out, down a single track was worth every penny! Having said that, we are booked to go to Malvern this year!

Crickey Gerri so glad that isn't the farmers field we camp in . I know they have had to pull them of the MCC field if the weather is really bad. We have always been ok :)

Kate it wasn't anything to do with the ground being wet, the silly people didn't realise that although they all arrived at different times, they would all be leaving at the same time, trying to get down a single track out onto the main road that leads into central Bristol, with no traffic management system to let them out!

There were also caravanners who were parked in the rugby club with us, who had gone out in the car for the evening, trying to get back to their caravans, down the single track lane, full of a queue of cars, with no way of getting past them - so they were stuck on the main road, with no hope of getting back to the caravans - it was chaos! Having made a fortune on the three days, the farmer was nowhere to be seen!

Hi Kate

@Ambilkate you're on a roll today with your recommendations. Do I detect a bit of excitement that the Motorhome summer season is drawing ever closer :sun:

We were planning to go to retro fest but I've always wanted to go to the balloon festival and we are down that way for 10 days before. I'll talk to Allan when he gets home and let you know. It would be good to see you all again. Do you need tickets to the balloon festival? If so where do you get them?

Loren

No tickets needed its free to get in There is a large Funfair there that is open till late at night as well . The farmer opens his field up earlier on in the week so we may me there on the Tuesday this year. The flights usually start at 6am on the Thursday and 6pm and the night glo and the fireworks are also on the Thursday and Saturday nights . As soon as i find this years programme for the fiesta i will post it on here . Be great to catch up if you are able to come x

We're in Parrog, South Wales leaving on Thursday I think but sounds like it might be better to leave Tuesday or weds so we make sure we can get a pitch and also don't miss the Thursday 6am flights. Assume its wild camping and no EHU?

Hi Kate @Ambilkate
Spoken with Allan and we will be coming. We'll probably arrive Wednesday so get the kettle on! Looking forward to seeing you, Bill and Amanda if we don't see you before then. Are you at Chester? If so we'll see you there.
