If buying a new Carthago be aware!

6 Amps? What's the unit doing, running its own disco/festival while you're not looking?
I agree! That's enough to run a 32" TV. I guess that's peak draw rather than continuous?

Despite my van being registered in 2020, my power control panel is a bit more dated and pretty much only switches off the pump. However, I do have a switch for the cab radio's power source on the dashboard. It's just a basic toggle switch that's been hole-sawed in.

My Pioneer spec sheet says max current is 10A. It doesn’t give any indication of the current draw when the unit is on and doing nothing. So I had no idea when I bought it of possible current usage.

As it’s a sat/nav unit I suspect if you enter a destination it probably keeps interpreting the satellite time signals to see if we have moved. Indeed, on occasion, when parked, it has woken up and said “recalculating route”! I suspect a satellite has gone over the horizon and following a new calculation thinks we have moved a few feet.

Have you tried telling the sat nav to end /cancel route ?

Not specifically, but I don’t recall ever hearing a peep if the route was completed or aborted before parking.

It would appear so, the Pioneer Carthago fit, if you turn the unit off but don't turn the media switch off there is a very high chance you will have a flat starter battery in the morning.

I had a similar problem with my battery running down in store. I was not sure if radio was wired to cab or leisurely battery, so when I had to replace the radio I had the installer put a rocker switch on the dash that turned the power of to the radio so no more potential drain problem.

Just be aware that the rocker switch needs to be in the ON position when the mechanic wants to read the EHU, otherwise he gets frustrated when he tries to reset it after a service!
