Needs some ideas, currently heading to lavender fields area. We are a day ahead of schedule after moving up from Northern Spain to avoid the rain / storm's, so have a day in hand before heading north to vet appointment before crossing.

Any ideas for places to visit in or around the area or slightly further north?

Firme de la Condamine is a superb aire on a lavender farm. You are supposed to be France Passion members but we got on without it.

Our stay was described in post #259 on this thread. It's in CamperContact sitecode 12541.

Can you narrow it down a bit ?

Which sort of place are you wanting.

Name a town or mountain or river nearby and I m bound to know a decent (and probably free) place nearby

Looking at places to visit rather than over night. Currently in an Aire at a small village called Banon.

Have a day to spare as can't change vets appointment on Thursday at 15:00

Vets is in Valence, so anywhere between Banon and Valence ;)
You have Gordes(a good year) and isle Sur la sorgues which is a beautiful walk round with crystal clear water and loads of water mills.
Further up you have ventoux if you bypass Verdon and the fields between riez and st Croix where it just smells of lavender soon. You also have moustiers st Marie a beaux village.

Ventoux offers you 3 ways up and for lavender views Sault is the best option but malaycene and bedoin offer cycling ambience. From Sault you can also do gorges de la nesque with wild boar eating out of your hand (mind your height)

You can go to journals and read about some of them here.
