hi all,

I’m new to the forum, just looking for some advice.

My wife and I are looking into a motorhome or campervan but we’re looking for something small. Obviously we’re aware of vw and bongo etc, but when we’re keeping an eye out we want some more ideas. We’ve seen an Aria Twin which was lovely, but can anyone recommend any others like this? It would need to be at least 3 berth as we have a 5 year old and we’re looking second hand, absolute max of £20k and that would mean having to save for a couple of years first.

Any ideas?

Lots of older Hymers [I admit to having one and am very fond of her ] are under 6 m ; have 4- 6 belted seats and cost as much as a car to get to France on the ferry and rail. They come up under 20k; have an overcab bed which may be an issue as they are taller than a VW and Bongo. They seem to hold their prices and are well made to start with - lots of extras re winterisation .
You need to look in one of the Mhome magazines that gives lay outs and lengths and belted seats. Small small m homes are rare - you may want o spend some happy hours trawling sales rooms to get an idea of how much space there is with you all inside the van. Hope that you get a van that is just perfect for YOU - lots of people have different ideas about what they want. Happy hunting and happy camping

Hello and welcome. The more shows and dealers you look round the more you'll refine your wish list. It usually comes down to features you "must have" and the "In an ideal world". By keeping an eye on local dealers, autotrader, and ebay you'll soon get an idea of prices. Its also worth keeping an eye on the classified section here as some lovely vans come up, usually having been well looked after and often with lots of extras. Sorry I can't help with particular model suggestions but good luck.

Enjoy but dont take your cheque book !! Easy to be sucked into a purchase . Ditto for the NEC show - lots of different layouts and prices . If it is for you -it wont go by you [big believer in fate !] we had been thinking of a moho for 7-8 years and bought the one we have in a momentary madness [tho we had researched lots over the years but decided no - we couldnt give up our caravan] when we were blocked into a campsite by 100 D of E campers - Happy Days. But we were very lucky and got one of the rare berths = no of seatbelts and has never been a problem to drive or camp in. Never missed the caravan. LOVE LOVE our old, slightly worn Hymer- many happy memories with friends and grandchildren for an astonishing 9 years [and we will never ever sell her- maybe !! ] Good luck - very exciting .

We've all got great suggestions and I'm also very shallow. Hymer Exsis SK or SG.

:welcomesign:from a SUNNY, must say that again really
A SUNNY Yorkshire.
Enjoy the search, it is all part of the fun of motorhoming and I agree about older Hymers, onto my second one (y)

I would endorse you looking at an Auto Sleeper Nuevo. I currently have a four berth, four travel seats but in all honesty the overact double is perfect for a child up to about 14 but I never fancied sleeping in it. My grandson loved the 'adventure' of it!

Have a look at the Fun motorhome buying guide, loaded with good advice and free for members.
The problem you might find at peterborough is it will be packed with hundreds of gorgeous shiny new vehicles - outside your budget.
eBay and autotrader both good for second hand but you need to be careful, there are lots of sharks in the water. Be careful.
Good luck with your search and ask lots of questions on here, loads of good advice freely given (y)

Welcome

Another option would be to buy a van & have it converted to your own spec (or if you have the skills & time convert it yourself)

I did the former a couple of years ago & ended up with a perfect MoHo (for me) for less than your budget
