For my onboard router I always buy local data sims when away, Spanish and Portuguese etc. But never bought a French one and I'm going to be there for a month or so. Anyone know what data deals you can get on supermarket sims in France? Cheers.

Check out the Free network. I was getting 220gb that lasts a month but it was €30 .....f available at lots of the large outlets that have supermarkets and small shops along the concourse. You can find the locations on line

Is your starlink broken?

Hard to fit on my pushbike. Getting an extra seat for it in restaurants is a pain, then when you do, you never find a 220 outlet near a window! Also I look a bit of a prat with a sat dish on my head at the Orange Vélodrome watching the rugby :D
The portable router though with a French Data sim in it can sit in a saddlebag, or be in Siân's handbag at the bar or stadium (y)

You just need to upgrade to the Starlink hat ! ;)

I understand it runs on methane, the cable runs down your back into a convenient pair of sealed pants.

Would that give you unlimited data inside the EU ?
Or would it be capped at the 12gig per month 'Reasonable usage' ?
It is a French SIM card bought from a French supermarket so therefore no capping.

for the entire EU ?

If so, then it's worth us deviating to France to buy one.
As in many countries (Germany, Austria, etc) you can not buy a SIM card without and ID card and proof of a local address.

Another vote for Reglo used one last year but make sure you get it enabled at customer services.

It's a French sim so for France, roaming in other countries is 5gb but we used over 10gb without problem.

Attached is the tarifs for reglo mobile in english (google translate so watch for errors), it is a little complicated as it shows tarrifs for all options.

It looks like internet abroad is roughly 1Gb for every euro you pay monthly, eg 5Gb for 4.95€ 10Gb for 9.95€ etc

I got a reglo at leclerc. I found I had to activate it online and put my bank card in and then had to remember to cancel after a month otherwise it would auto refill. Di anyone else have to do this? Was good value especially as I could find a free mobile outlet.

I’ve just had a month in Spain/Andorra/France since 4 Sep and thought I’d try the Orange Holiday SIM. You get 20Gb data and enough mins and texts. £44.99 from Amazon and have topped up once @ £37.49 on 20 Sep with further 20Gb. Certainly better than paying the ‘unlimited’ 3 tariff @ £5 per day. I’ve registered the Orange SIM so should be able to top up and use next time we’re away. Hope this helps.

I found the only way to activate it was at customer services couldn't do it online.

Thats expensive, I'm currently using my ID sim which is £10/month 50gb with 30gb roaming and wife is on Virgin with 25gb roaming so that will do us 2 - 3 weeks then we will buy a local sim.

That sounds expensive to me, for 19€ a reglo mobile sim would give you 210Gb while in france, 18Gb while in the other countries but not sure exactly how the mix of france and abroad works on your package.

Another vote for Reglo. I use one in my TP Link and never had problems with it. You'll need your passport to buy one (Leclerc). Here are there current offers;

It's very easy to change your plan online. However, if you do change your plan, it's not immediate and won't be updated until the beginning of the next month (!), so you need to make sure you get the one you want in plenty of time.

And at the end of you holiday you can drop it back down to the lowest package, if you want to maintain the sim. You used to be able to drop it down to 1.99€/month but they have recently dropped that option.

I have been using Popit for France and Spain. Happy with performance and customer support so far. Also, BBC and ITV are happy to let you watch their broadcasts as you are using a UK sim.

I've just bought a O2 15bg data chip for 15€ in Germany. The only way I could register it was in the O2 shop which took over 15 minutes and required my passport .
It seems that they are tightening up due to the risk of terrorist organisations

I'm also using Popit - in the UK and France this year. No issues - worked out of the box in my Huawei mifi without the need to change any settings. Haven't had to use customer service, so can't comment on that, but that's a good thing isn't it?

I've got a Tesco Sim which I took out in March 22, in my wifi router, 100Gb data contract @£12 month. On the same deal I have a 30GB in my iPhone. Over the two devices I have used 120GB of data in three weeks in the EU this month. Not sure if the deal is still available or if it's now capped, but I'm hanging on to it.

We used Popit back in May.

Excellent value, good Euro coverage

Crap website and their customer service was very slow. I think that they hadn’t catered for the sudden upsurge in their popularity. Of course it might have changed since.

That's a really good deal!

We bought a 140GB sim in a LeClerc supermarket in August for 18.95 Euros including the 5Euro charge for the SIM which can be topped up on line. Seemed good value as last year we got caught out by the fair usage limit of 12Gb on our supposedly unlimited UK card with roaming! I think the other supermarket chains offer similar deals. And ours continued working when we returned here.

I live in france, and used Reglomobile for many years, they are always upping the amount of data you get, but it doesn't get updated automatically, if you have been paying for instance 18.95€ for 140Gb you need to go online and change your package to the new 18.95€ package with 210Gb of data.

My only other comment is that Reglomobile use the SFR network, which is very good but may not have quite the same coverage, as the Orange network in rural areas (Free also use Orange) , but I regularly check out the offers and yet to find anything that beats the deals and flexibility of Reglomobile.
