I need a 3.5 motorhome handbrake cable

Good luck finding a rear handbrake cable for an Alko chassis. Mine was corroded and stiff inside the two 'rubber' outer casings at the rear. Could not find a Pilote or Alko part number, Hayes said they have to get them made to order from a cable company. It was co-vid time so not easy to get a cable made up.
In the end I bought a new standard Peugeot Boxer cable and offered it up to see if I could make it fit, no luck as the inner cable was too short and the two 'rubber' outer casings too long! I needed a 3580mm inner and 590mm outer casings. Edit. This was for a 2001 Peugeot Boxer with drum rear brakes.
I cut the inner in half then shortened the outer cases, a bit if a bugger as it meant getting the old end fitting off, then refitting it to the shortened casing. Lots of swearing unwinding the outer casing steel coil. My local MOT man assured me he would not pass a cable that had been extended by clamps etc so decided to make my own inner. Could not find any of the super smooth inner cable, just standard rigging cable and end crimps from a yacht chandlers. Assembled it all then found the end fittings would not fit the inner brake arms, more fiddling and filing later finally have a working handbrake. Pulled on the handbrake lever as hard as I could and certainly much harder than one would in normal driving so all seems OK. No problem with the less smooth inner cable.
My only lurking fear is an accident if it did fail, should I now get one made up profesionally or has it been proof tested enough over the last two years.

Have you tried www.coastalmotorhomes.co.uk (with your vin number) or if they cannot help try www.speedycables.com who should be able to make one for you if you cannot get one from AL-KO (if you have their long wheelbase chassis fitted)

Oh...welcome by the way....you'll love the fun and a few misdemeanours along the way
