Hi all,

Sadly managed to damage our motorhome on its first outing. The rear end clipped a gate as we drove into parking...

You can see in the picture that it's bent and exposed, any recommendations? How easy is this to fix? Any idea of rough cost?

Oh no, not a great start.

I can recommend Go Solent Motorhome Repairs, (https://go-motorhome-repair.co.uk) at Holton Heath, speak to Mike or online quote from pictures over Whatsapp.
They do all the work for Three Counties Motorhomes.

I'm no expert but I would get the duct tape out sharpish and seal up that hole from the prevailing weather conditions.
A leaky van is easy to get and there's no need to help nature any quicker.

Agree. Immediate duct tape. Usable as is with duct tape until can be attended to. On the face of it, as long as it stays dry, a pretty minor repair.

Yes definitely gaffer tape to keep the weather out.
I recommended Go Solent to Fulham Dave
and I believe he was well pleased with the repair they carried out and the price.

Hope it’s easily fixed 👍 the damage is so easily done

Looking at your photo though I fear you may have exposed an existing bigger problem which maybe weakened the joint before you caught it 🙁

You don’t give your location. After we damaged our van in a narrow road in Wales, we used this guy who did an excellent repair. I post my thread and #21 has details of the repairer. Based in Leeds so may not be your location.

Ouch! Easily done.

The fixing lip of that corner panel looks damaged. Unfortunately you will not know how bad until it comes off.
Done similar and used the good old gaffa tape until I fixed it. I was lucky my corner panel just slotted back in place and only needed a few scratches sorting and a reseal.

Morning Old Barry, sorry to hear of your woes.

Not sure where you are based, but BobJayne certainly did recommend Mike at GO Solent to us and we were very pleased with the result. Our van was certainly in a worse state than yours, but repaired to almost like new as you can see in the pictures. I Would definitely recommend Mike and his team.

I feel your pain. I did the same thing on my 3rd outing. Not quite as bad damage as yours though.
I used a hammer and a block of wood to re-straighten the corner and seal the now-thinner gap with clear silicon. It looks better but far from great. This was 7 years ago and no water ingress has occurred, so the silicon did it's job.

Looking at this again - and this isn’t necessarily a recommendation - I’m pretty sure it’s a repair I would have had a go at myself. Tape for now, then a bit of Sikaflex and judicious manipulation/hammering of beading back into position.

Yes, it looks like damp in there.
