Still dropping clangers and making it up as I go along
It is the job a really dislike
Had to put the last spare 3.9 bottle on thus morning and git disturbed in the middle of it and managed to dischsrge gas from the half full bottle
Really miffed now as I have been so careful as it needed to last until August when I get to see Basildog to get the new refillables fitted.
Trying to get hold of calor as they claim to have them but only at their distribution centres
Looks like it could be a run to Yorkshire sooner than expected

Refillables.. 👍

chose to put solar on first always thought about underslung or refillables but was never near Basildog to get it done but have now located bottles so can get them swopped over so will have ample until Im in Yorkshire in August Also had quote to fix /replace step that failed and that is eye watering so its choices hopping to get it done shortly loads of little .jobs seem to be appearing and every job people want lots of money

Its a lot of fuel to run up and back and fit around work but sorted now thanks to a lovely young man called Paul

Given the cost of Calor gas compared to refillable gas, the run to Yorkshire may be justified financially.

Depending on whether you are top or bottom of Wales, there are other places that fit GasLow.
We had ours fitted at VanBitz on the M5 near Taunton.

We swapped an empty 3.9 calor for a full 6kg one at Peterborough,£31. It's a spare I had in the garage at home so rather than throw it out( was used for a plumbing torch and lighting the barbie for many years) I switched it. Our local dealer wanted £40 to upgrade it to a 6kg.(y)

I'm in Wales but am travelling to Wiltshire next week.

I have a teeny tiny gas locker and a standard 6kg won't fit too tall so spoke at length with Charlie, Basildog and he has told me there is a way but means him doing addition stuff

i was hoping to make what i have last until before DRAX in slide in the day before

I always intended to get refillable and considered an underslung but went for solar first. I have i belive found some full exchange bottles but until I get there next week , (trying not to make special journey) they are not guaranteed.

I will keep you informed. I thought b@gger it sa its a lovely weeked I'm down the beach , now on last but one bottle there can't be much left in it so hopefully can get 2 and theyvwill last until August

Thank you guys a really appreciate your suggestions calor has forced my hand so it has to be done and didn't know about vanbitz doing it and basildog was recommended

I don't know who, what or where Basildog is but it's not difficult to fit a refillable. I ordered my Gaslow one online along with an appropriate hose. 5 minute job to remove calor and replace with Gaslow bottle.

Yes hecsaid I would be more than capable but it's the locker size so not a straight forward fit and an external filling point

I've got a full 3.9kg here in Wells which is near Wiltshire. You're welcome to it for the cost of the gas. I'm going to Topsham, don't know if you are going there.

Sadly I'm going to Norfolk the week of Topsham if the plan for the exchange does not work out I'll pm you thank you so much

I got caught out too many times during the night. Got an automatic changeover valve so cylinders switch themselves when one runs out. Great buy, £120 fitted.

Thank you all for your kind offeres I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat u will keep you all on the loop

I really appreciate your kind offers of help

UPDATE

I have 3 full 3.9kg bottles, thankyou guys for all your help and kind offers

I have been informed that calor are NOT distributing any more and the boat people were negotiating and released the statement before any agreement jumping the gun as such

I was also informed that they have low on 6kg as people have been replacing the little ones and others hoarding the 6kg.

My thoughts are this could be an excuse to remove these also. JUST MY THOUGHTS

I'm hoping I now have sufficient to last until the refillables are fitted.

Maybe we could start a thread for anyone who is stuck looking for 3.9kg to link up with you guys that have part or full bottles

I can't thank you all enough

:thanks5::mnythnks::dogthanks:i:ta:
