Yesterday, I was finally ill enough to contact a doctor (I've been ill since November but been putting it off, trying to fight t myself). We're in Benidorm. I visited this website;

I booked an appointment online for a telephone call at 1.10pm and paid €39. I had to give my personal details, passport number and a brief description of my condition. At 1.00pm, the doctor called me. An English speaking lady, who diagnosed me with Bronchitis. She emailed me a prescription for Co-Amoxicillin and Toseina to my husband's phone (I don't have a smartphone). We went to the pharmacy, where we emailed the prescription to the pharmacy and they printed it out (in order to dispense it). I paid €14.50 for the medication and was on my way.

An absolutely brilliant service and no need to sit and wait in a clinic, potentially picking up more infections. I can highly recommend this service. The doctor I spoke to was in Malaga and spoke perfect English. They also do video calls or you can see a doctor in person.

I hope this helps someone else :) xx

Hope you're soon feeling better 👍

Thank you. We've been travelling extensively since November, so it's no surprise I picked something up. Airports and airplanes are just the worst things ever!

I use Family Health Clinic in Albir, it’s a British clinic, I have blood tests for INR done every other week, no waiting done as soon as your in, results emailed to you by mid afternoon.

HKF. Glad to see that you are sorted. 👍
Being Asthmatic, unfortunately I've had 2 x chest infections in 3 x weeks here in Benidorm. On both occasions I have visited the Rincon Medical Centre here in town, presented my passport, GHIC, and my temporary SIP card. I have been seen by a English speaking GP, diagnosed, meds prescribed, and then dispensed by the Pharmacy next door.........all within in the hour on both occasions.
The only fees I paid were for the meds, but at the very much reduced rates for prescription meds.
The Valencian Health Authorities apparently can claim back costs from the UK Government.

This has been our experience over several years of coming to Spain, including essential blood tests required in Benicassim, pre issue of Rita's specialist meds, which again, the Health Authorities did not charge us for.

Hopefully the above may help other Brits visiting Spain. 👍

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I got a UTI in Italy 18 months ago and did the same procedure ,a watts ap call and a prescription watts appef to me and just presented my phone at the pharmacy.
Very simple and convenient.

Sounds like a good service, although when GP in the uk are trying to cut times by doing phone consultations are being moaned at. It just goes to show what some people class as good service other will deem unacceptable.
Our GP has went down the phone triage way and in my opinion it’s an excellent service and saves the GP seeing folk they don’t need to, this should then allow those in need of face to face appointments more time.

We have a Romanian tenant.
(Been a resident in the UK for 20+ years, UK passport etc)
She has had backache for months.
She was given a NHS appointment date 4 months ahead.
So a £25 Ryan Air flight to Romania, seen by a doctor the same day, diagnosed the problem, Minor op done next day and then a week of Physio, all of which cost £150.
(She does not qualify for Romanian NHS as she is not a tax paying resident)

She is going back in a month for more Physio and also to go to the dentist, as it cheaper and faster to travel 1,000 miles across Europe than go 1 mile to the local A&E and Dentist.

Except it took a year to diagnose a problem i had, which could have been resolved by a two minute visit.
