I-cad - What’s it all about?

After I successfully obtained French PP in May, my daughter approached the vet she was using for the worm tablet near Frehel asking about PP.
she was told, as so many have, she needed a French address. She has a friend from many years ago ( school exchange and she’s now in her forties!)with whom remains in infrequent communication and whose address she used. Vet said I’ll hear from I- cad and PP will follow. French friend had to pay the 9plus euros By cheque when all other means failed! Daughter had rabies jab in Frehel

there has followed bizarre exchange with I- cad which has driven daughter to think AHC costs well worthwhile!

i-cad claimed rabies only three days old so everything invalid even shouldnt have left country etc
7 phone calls later ( luckily daughter has fairly fluent French!)including copies of AHC used to enter France
in the end I- cad admitted mistake ! Rabies jab ONE year and three days!

but for this thread- daughter saying she travels extensively in motorhome in France using friends address ( complicated because friends husband unaware of conversations with his wife and my daughter had denied all knowledge of daughters dog to I-Cad!!)

seemed to be accepted by I-cad but proof of pudding in the eating - or registration in post to French address in this case!

daughter hopeful but won’t pursue if this fails!

( she doesn’t have a motor home!)

sorry, long-
but if accepted then the argument for non residency half way accepted I think

I found it a bit difficult to follow the intricacies of this but the problems arose because I-cad thought that your daughter's dog had been imported into France. Not unreasonably because a 'Certificate of Importation' form had been completed!

For those still looking to obtain a French Pet Passport:
If a French vet insists on I-cad registration before they will issue a Pet Passport, make sure that the form completed is the basic 'Provisional Identification Certificate'. I suspect that most vets will still have a stash of the other forms as well.

Yes - sorry I was trying to keep it succinct!

the problems were two fold
1. i - cad misread rabies info and thought rabies jab was three days old
apologised fir their mistake after realising after phone calls and emailed AHC jab was one year and three days

2. Phoning french address on application friends husband denied all knowledge of dog and application

hence having to say to I- cad she travelled extensively in motorhome and was using friends address ( even if friends husband didn’t know!)
it was this rationale,if accepted, I though might be useful even if French address still needed

Yes, but the problem arose because the vet completed the 'Certificate of Importation' form rather than the basic ID form. This is why I-cad wanted copies of the AHC which they otherwise would not have done, and the phone calls that ensued. They would not have been interested in the date of the rabies jab if only the basic ID form had been completed.

Possibly interesting update

That now notorious 'Brexit statement' quoted at the start of this thread has disappeared from the I-cad website. I don't know exactly when it disappeared because I was looking for something else when I noticed it was missing. Seeing as this statement was frequently quoted as 'law', it will be interesting to see if it gets replaced .........
