Does your EE mini box really need boosting?

Correct me if I am wrong but the main use of the Iboost is when you are on a site but their WiFi signal is quite weak near your van. You can set up the device to strengthen the signal. You can then connect various other devices to the boosted signal that the Iboost puts out. Meaning someone can connect their Iphone to it while someone else has their Samsung phone connected to it etc.

Your EE device will already do this.

mate, I havnt got a clue either! I used it on my Huwai WiFi unit!
When I set it up, I just posted on here how to do it, and it got sorted within five mins! I’m not tech minded, perhaps if you asked someone in the tech forum? Xx

Monzar, I’ve no idea as I’ve never used it in Europe, but my belief is that it strengthens the signal to my little box which is similar to the wee Huawei box that Ian used.
As stated I’m clueless but going to Spain for a month in February and just trying to simplify me time there

the main use for me is to be able to receive a signal and then 'split' that signal, so on camp sites you can hook up more than one device at a time, but only pay for one. it might boost the strength of the signal, but if the site only delivers a set number of mega bytes per second, i dont think the wifi boost will increase that and the number of users will reduce the amount of mega bytes that each user can receive.

As your moving into a block of flats could you not use it to piggy back on to someone else’s WiFi for free. Haha
This is actually a very good suggestion. I did it with mine at my last house for around 4 years. :xrofl:

But you must need their password ?
No, not if you have a bt fon account , if you can reach any bt line then thats all you need.

Is bt fon still going?
They don't sell them anymore , you could always pick one up from ebay etc but you'd have to get the username and password. Ive not had mine plugged in for ages but can still managed to get logged on while in France to the SFR. I'd guess you just really need a username and password nowadays.

If you have a bt account at home you will have log in details to fon.

You can easily change the fon one to one of your choice.

If your EE box produces a wifi signal which other devices like phones and tablets can connect to then the iBoost would allow devices further away from the EE box to connect to it. Essentially, it would pick up the wifi signal from the EE box and then produce another wife signal around itself.

I use a homemade iBoost to connect with the wifi in the house from my shed.

So I think I’m barking up the wrong tree.
In my head I thought the signal hit the boost and the boost sent it to my device giving me a stronger/better signal
