Hi everyone as I am one of these unfortunate owners with this type of headlight I thought this may be a helpful piece of info although won’t save any money
I have been trying to source replacement headlights as mine were failed on last MOT but the garage fiddled with them and gave it a pass however they Told me the would not pass them again.
I have since looked at prices and the cheapest were £1083 each plus £30 delivery so not wanting to pay out that sort of money after passing three previous MOTs I thought I might instead look at replacing the module at the back of the headlight rather than the whole thing.
After many emails with with Hella UK and providing them with all of the details of the said headlamp they tell me that Hymer owns exclusive rights to this headlight and even Hella don’t have any details of it or its components so therefore we have to go to Hymer for replacements exclusively.
They seem to have the monopoly and will not sell spare parts for said headlight you can only purchase the complete unit.
I hope you will find this helpful and save you lots of time researching replacements, interestingly I have since found that if I collect them from a dealer in Germany I can get them for approx €900 (£761)each so if combining with a trip to EU you can save a fair bit compared to our rip off dealers in the UK.

Out of interest what exactly was the reason for saying they will fail an MOT.
Is it definitely a headlight fault and not the much reported loom failure.

The earlier shaped Hella Hymer headlights are £1,700 each and, as you say, only available through Hymer (had to buy one 2 years ago)

The beam pattern is wrong and I can’t argue with that when I looked at them the beam although flat had a triangular upturn on the right hand although not a large one but I reckon on measuring it was probably a meter higher than the flat dip beam thus could dazzle drivers in the UK.
I am currently in the process of investigating whether I can perhaps add something to the adjustable dip shield to block this out but not hopeful.
I will be going back to my old garage for this years MOT as they passed it twice after adjusting it whereas AM Southampton are a bit stricter and told me to get new headlights.

That’s very annoying. Certainly have had no comments regarding mine. Hope you get it sorted.

Yes I believe Hymer deliberately fit these headlights as they have the monopoly on replacements which I believe is wrong I don’t know if it is illegal for them to do this as these headlights won’t be available anywhere else.🤔

Due to their ridiculous cost I have fitted a laminate film to mine to trying and protect from stones.

Thanks yes they have been a pain since the day I brought the van back from Germany we had the dreaded wiring loom problem on them as well😊

I omitted to say that my vehicle and headlights are LHD and I did not change to RHD on import however they were supposed to flat dip for compliance with UK regulations which it passed on import.🤔

don't even mention the fog lamps that fill up with water - mine do anyhow.
I had an issue with the loom but an auto electric place sorted it for £300 - again water ingress issue

Is/was it the right-hand headlight which has the incorrect beam pattern? I see you brought your Hymer in from Germany, different beam pattern left hand and right hand drive vehicles on dipped headlight?
**edit OP beat me to it

My fog lights have been ok but the black gloss surround are loose and don’t fit to well🤔

What laminate have you fitted please? Although my 2007s are a lot older, they're still crazy expensive so if laminate will help, I'm all for it 👍
