Help!

Our R/H front wheel arch trim parted company in France last week! I almost needed resuscitation when I enquired with Brownhills today (£350!). Do we know of an aftermarket or recycle/wrecker source here in Blighty or in Germany?

Found these guys to be the best so far http://motorhomebumpers.com/ £185 (but nearly half what Brownhills were charging) delivered colour matched.

Hi BeeSea, looking to get the same trim for our van. Was it easy to attach or were other parts required. Thanks in advance for any info offered. Eamonn.

Hi BeeSea,

I'm afraid Bee sea has let his membership lapse , so you won't get an answer , or he may well have just simply left . I'm guessing your talking about the wheel arch spats , and yes they are easy to attach , and yes another part maybe required .
I've removed both of mine as i write , along with the front bumper , for repairs and a repaint . The nearside spat and front bumper , had previous damage , and i added to the bumper , and offside spat a couple of years ago .
Now i'm not gonna sugar coat this , they are expensive . Original spats cost somewhere in the region of 350 quid , but it is possible to source a pattern spat for around 180 . I'm afraid these are only approximate figures , as i'm in the process of repairing mine , after learning to weld plastic .
They are attached with screws under the rubber trim , the condition of which , will depend on whether you will need the extra part , or not .

Hi Airwave. Thanks a million for responding. I think I have managed to source the spat from the UK, just waiting to see if it can be delivered to us here in Dublin. It is definitely not an original part. I'm sure it will involve a little tinkering to get it on. Just bought out first MH and waiting for local lockdown to be lifted before our first trip. If I have any issues with fitment I will tap you up for some expert advice. Thanks again, Eamonn.

I'm sure there won't be a problem , you're still United Kingdom. If it's not an original , it will be fibreglass , and come from (i think) somewhere in Essex . I know there is a company just can't remember their name . They used to build boats , some quite big ones , and i believe the spats are produced from the original . Or rather the mould is , so it should be a pretty good fit .
Yeah , i'm afraid these lockdowns are a bit of a hassle , not that i object to it , it is what it is . I've been using the time to get some serious work done , but i've become bogged down with the cooling system . Loads of new parts , mainly in the engine bay , but there is some upgrade work going on too .
Please feel free , it should be a pretty straight forward job , and i'm sure you're be fine . Just take your time , you got plenty of it . What i would advise is , if the new spat does not have holes . Don't try and drill the new ones in the same place , drill them in a completely different place , and fill the old holes in the van with epoxy . I threw some paint on mine after , as i'd already brought some last year for another job . But i'm not sure i would advise that , unless you're used to this kinda work , blending is hard work .
