Hymer water valve?

All our problems are generally water related ...... but then with a surname of Flood who could expect anything less !

Woke up this morning to a water on drive under the Hymer, no frost onany of the cars or the gound. The water tank reading is still says full so I'm guessing not a lot of water has escaped, Slso the water pump was off.

On turning On the tap , I'm getting very little pressure as most of the water is being diverted to a drain point under the sink (drivers side as we are LHD), this is from both the kitchen sink and bathroom sink which are onopposite sides of the van.

Is there some sort of maybe pressures relief value thst kicks open at low temperature?

Or maybe someone has any ideas ?

Slight edit, I've now leveled the van and the tank reads 50% but hand in the leaking blue filler cap tells me it's still nearly full

The Truma frost protection vale will have opened, it dumps the water from the hot tank.. it trips open about 2c

to reset pull the knob on the top up.. it may not reset until ambient is about 8c

It is generally located on the floor next to the hot tank ..

Ok further investigation leads me to believe it must be some to do with the boiler frost valve, see picture above.

I've come across a post in another forum that indicates that this may dump water j the boiler at 4c and then not close until it gets back to 8c !

While the post maybe output of date, it's from 2007, I still think (hope ) that this is what is happening.

Does anyone know how to operate this valve .......

The older model valve, generally fitted to the previous C6000 series combi devices, was electrically activated, and if the heating was turned on, the dump valve would "hold" in the closed position. It was also possible, with this type of valve, to use a clothes peg round the "button" to hold the valve closed.

The newer model valve, however, generally fitted to those devices now formally named "Combi" (i.e. probably yours) is a "passive" device with no electric parts, and will dump at around 3 degrees C, and not re-engage until around 7 degrees C.

In order to close this latter type of valve in cold weather, you will have to raise the ambient temperature of the surroundings to the appropriate level (by running the heater in space heating mode if it is close enough to the valve) or alternatively find some way of holding the button in until the temperature has risen (I have a piece of wood that I can jam against the button to keep it closed, and then use water heating to raise the ambient temperature).

It is the second type of valve thst I have fitted.

How do you all go about solving this problem, a jubilee clip around for the release valve ?
Should I turn on the heating along with the hot water to try and rise the temperature, I'm concerned there may not be water in the system

Only when the temperature at the drain valve is above approx. 7 °C can it be closed manually with the push- button (Position 2) and the boiler be filled.

you can run the boiler without water,

Is it possible to use the Combi heating function without water?
Of course. The Combi water tank can be heated up even without water.
