Looks like it's threaded at the bottom so there must be something outside the tank screwed on to it,or a boss it screws into 🤷🏼 can you see the outside of the tank? can't find anyone who has actually taken it out🙁

I have, actually found the problem which is a circlip broken inside the lower black tube. My problem is that I can't see how to remove the mechanism

Have you been able to take the black nut off and lift the shaft out?

No Richard. I was afraid that was how to do it. I just can't seem to get anything on it to turn it.
I'll have another go after a cuppa. We're going away tomorrow

Just take out the metal clip in the top bit and the whole lot will lift out.
Or you pull on the rod inside the tank and the top & bottom of the tank will bow and it will pop out.
The clip in the bottom bit is not necessary for it to work I've not got one in mine.
I've taken mine apart quite a few times.

Found this elsewhere so it can be done but he doesn't say how 🙁

In the end I took out the shaft and valve, stripped it down a bit, fiddled around with it and gave it some lubrication, then tested it over the sink by pouring water down the centre of the black valve cover to see if any water was still escaping through the centre section. It seemed to do the job, so I put it back in the tank and put in around 50 litres and thankfully its now holding water above its 20% level without any leaking.

Progress eh ?
My tank has a small rubber bung on a stainless steel chain, I just have to give it a pull to empty and reach in to reinsert it. 😂

Sounds like I had the same problem as you. Once I managed to dismantle the tap handle assembly and open/shut valve I found that the E-Clip had broken due to corrosion.
I bought a new E-Clip online from ACCU the number was HETC-10-8.32-A4 and fitted well. I did get a quote for a completely new assembly from Travelworld which was £93 approx.

Thanks for your help.
I have now got the unit out by undoing the plastic nut below knob.
The c clip was broken exactly as yours was so I replaced it and reassembled.
Unfortunately it starts to leak a little over the 25% mark so I took it apart again and replaced the 'o' rings (two larger ones) but can't see where the small one goes. I replaced it again but it still dribbles after the 25% mark (when the water reaches the top of the black plastic tube part)
It will do for our trip this week but I need to sort it before we go to Spain next month.

Leaking at the 20% mark happened to me as well. It took me a few attempts to reassembling the black plastic part correctly. I ended up taking the black sleeve off altogether to get the rubber seals the spring and E-clip in the correct alignment. I am sorry I cannot remember the order each was fitted. You will know when it is correct. Sounds like you have sourced a replacement E-Clip???
I presume you know that the black plastic part is to allow draining the tank to allow only 20ltrs of water I assume this is to help with weight. Turning the tap for 2 turns from fully closed empties the tank, a 2/3 turn leaves the tank with 20ltrs of water.
As Lenny said earlier it maybe easier to remove the black plastic sleeve assembly and just fit the bottom seal. It just means you don't have the easy 20ltrs empty option.

Some more photos. They may help??
On the first photo from left to right, I think?? I fitted the rubber seal, the spring, then the E-Clip which fits in the small diameter groove, then the other rubber seal.

Thanks again Scotchbonnet
It seems mine is slightly different to that in your pictures but very similar.
I do understand the function of the black tube piece and, as you said, it's when the water gets above that point (25%) that it starts to dribble.
I have got a temporary C clip (not stainless) so will have to do it all again when we get home. We don't drink the water so it won't be a problem short term. Can you remember where you got the stainless one from?

Edit, Looking again, mine is the same as the top picture I think.

Is that the right one?

Thanks for your help guys. Clip now ordered and it should be here when we get back.
I'll tackle the 25% problem when I fit the new clip.

The E-Clip fits in the small diameter groove ( see photo) and holds the spring in place. It is very fiddly to put together again. When my one corroded I found it in the tank floor. The original E-Clip is corroding due to the dissimilar metals of the spring and clip.

As an aside, the Hymer Owners Group Guru's on Facebook have removed the 20% mechanism completely and replaced it with a good old fashioned, reliable plastic plug and chain.

That would be my next move of the repair fails.

Hi again
I’ve received the stainless steel E clip and fitted it today. For those interested, here is an assembly order. This is upside down but shows the order of assembly.
E10CBB74-BA93-49FC-B227-CD306AF399BB.jpeg

The problem I had was not knowing where the small ‘o’ ring (at the bottom of the picture) went and water was seeping past it.
BE48AC3B-1AA8-4345-9EE7-53426B424E76.jpeg

I have found that it sits inside the 25% ring and seals it against the shaft.
Here you can (just) see the E clip in position on the shaft at the bottom of the picture.

Then the 25% type goes on

Job done.

This is the ref for the E clip

I hope that’s useful.
