I'm a newbie
We are looking at a Hymer Exsis 522, ford 2.2 diesel engine and just wondered if anyone has a rough idea of the mpg it would do on a long run? Thanks!

Depends entirely on your driving style but at a guess 25-28mpg. With the amount you are spending on the van fuel costs are fairly insignificant not worrying about.

You'd think so but it does not stop folk screaming "RAPE" if they pay €5 for an aire.

And on French tolls we have found the toll costs the same as the fuel.

And if mpg is for running cost folk always kid themselves, the real cost is much much more as I have been know to say when people say Santander is way too expensive.

But has to be borne in mind when some are filling daily or 3/4 times a week.

Boat is always going to be dear if you do all your own maintenance, don't use tolls & also boring if you like driving.

It was a sweeping statement. For our little van at off peak times the cost is fine. Bigger van at peak times and it does cost.

I have a 150bhp Transit based van with 7k on the clock I estimate about 25 mpg,the van is a 3.5 tonne Challenger just over a year old and feel it will improve and have read these engines take about 15k to fully bed in,
Hope this helps.
