My friend has an open hab door warning light come on his Fiat dash, has anybody had this happen. I had a look around the door frame but saw no contacts.

They could magnet activated ?
In mine, inside the lock mechanism, there was a microswitch that made contact when the door was fully latched closed. The spring that hit it needed a bit of a tweak to consistently fully press the switch.
Other people have had similar issues caused by contacts on the hinge side not making a good connection. Or instead, by wires in a conduit becoming snagged or shorting out.
