Hi,
The large rooflight above the rear bed is leaking. Spoke to Lee formerly of Edgehill where we bought it & he suggested prising off the trim inside to unscrew the roof light. Then with the aid of someone on the roof gently push up a corner & begin to remove.

How do you remove the inside trim-? lift it with a screwdriver? Do not want to cause any damage since the Hymer now has its 2 year Control Technique & has been sold-just waiting on a replacement high brake light unit from Brownhills'. In UK I'd pay someone to do all this but here I contacted a dealer in Bordeaux & they said May!

Looked @scotjimland thread but still not clear whether you start on the roof or inside.

Thanks,

Roger

Wind window fully open,

Remove the rubber seal that is pushed onto the top of both the plastic trim and the aluminium frame.

Then remove the plastic trim, on mine it is held to the roof with about a dozen screws, the heads are hidden under small plastic covers which you can prise off.

Go onto the roof and remove the 4 x star washers on the end of the metal rods that hold the dome in place. Lift off carefully, it is easy broken..

The Aluminium frame that forms the seal can now be removed, is held to the roof with self tapping screws, remove screws and prise it off.. clean off old mastic with white spirits .. then re-apply a non-setting mastic (not Sika) .. refit frame .. I used W4 mastic on a roll

You will also need 4 x new stainless-steel star washers .. If I recall correctly they are 8mm but do check.

Thanks. I think ours must be different-it is a 2 position hinged push-up roof light above the bed. There is rubber on top where it closes but just trim underneath-I noticed water coming from the plastic trim inside as I reversed-pool of water on the roof. Pics are necessary I reckon once I've got the trim off-it's a close fit unfortunately.

thought it might be different.. but they are all much the same idea.. good luck

Thanks, managed to get the trim off with a short kitchen knife & a small screwdriver. There was water in the U shaped strips although it has not rained today. Did not have the precise fit for the Philips head screw so I'll do that tomorrow when I hope a carpenter mate will be round

Hi just to complete this 'how to', a carpenter friend came to help. We took off the plastic fitting housing the fly-screen & the blind & removed the screws & clips holding the sky light down. Next was to remove the mastic from the roof & sky light, there were no self tappers or star washers. After cleaning off with acetate we replaced with the W4 tape & clamped for several hours. It is the monsoon season here in the Gironde but I'm pleased to say there are no leaks.
So thanks again scotjimland .

Mist be a Remis window ? Mine leaked and was 're sealed. But leaked again so I did it myself. I fit bathrooms and needless to say the Remis does not leak anymore.
