As part of the agreement on purchasing my 2018 Hymer I got the dealer to agree a cam belt change free of charge on its anniversary service that I have agreed they could do.
I have Raised the question as to whether I should have the water pump changed whilst having this done. They have said they would inspect it at the time and if the bearings are OK they would not change it.
If however I want it changed they have said their cost for the cam belt change is £330 that they will cover, if I want the kit for the water pump as well it comes out at £1100 for parts and labour leaving me with a £700 difference to find.
Not being mechanically minded I would value the opinion of others on this price.
Thanks
Graham

I’d be tempted to buy a water pump and relevant seals, gaskets and some coolant and take em to the dealer and politely ask em “whilst you got belt off can you put this on please” and pay em an extra hours labour.😁

Sounds to me like a company I wouldn’t trust. If you google search Fiat cam belt/water pump kit you’ll find they are around £280-£400 for the whole lot, belt, pulleys and pump. Are they fitting genuine Fiat (Stellantis) parts (£400 mark) or Gates, Dayco etc? which are much cheaper.
I would have been happier negotiating a price reduction and getting it done myself at somewhere I‘d trust more.
There’s a big difference in what they are quoting which may indicate the first price is just changing the belt, no pulleys etc, without any further stripping that getting to the pump and pulleys requires.
