2008 Hymervan 522
Hi all, rear ended in my 2008 HymerVan 522. All the ABS is cracked/destroted and have asked Brownhills for cost of replacement parts, rear ally shell also bent so I'm lloking for a competent bodyshop that's not too far away from South Devon who can handle this job. Any recommendations? The guy's insurance will pay, my issue (and why I'm trying to sort) is that, as you all probably know, getting a Hymer repaired in under 12 months seems to be impossible. I have weekends away/holidays etc planned for the summer so really keen to sort the repair then patch and go and get the work soirted in the winter when it's off the road anyway.
Thanks

If you just want a temporary repair you could try any local bodyshop, particularly any that can do fibreglass.

However, you may have to pay for this yourself, I doubt the insurance would cover it. Which brings me to the other worry. The insurers of the other car are unlikely to wait until winter, they will want an estimate of the cost ASAP. They will be worried if you continue using it through the summer the cost of repair may increase, if only because of inflation.

I suggest contacting Tamar Caravan Centre in Plympton near Plymouth. Send them the photo and see what they say. I've no experience of them but often drive past and they are always fettling someone's MH.

A bit further away but I would give Reliance at Chichester a call they know their way around Hymers they all used to work for a Hymer dealer and they can source the parts.

We had our 2010 Rapido repaired, after a schoolboy reversing error, by a commercial repairer in Andover (BP Rolls) through the insurance (LV). They deal with coaches, delivery vans (Tesco, Sainsbury etc) buses. They had the Rapido swoops matched and made so no need to wait for stuff from France. They also collected and returned the vehicle to us. Might be an option?

Insist that the other insurance company pays for a 24/7 motorhome standing outside your house until your one is repaired.
