Hi, has any one fitted a bicycle carrier to their hymer using the original fixing points on the rear if so what make will fit on.

Thanks

John

I did mine a few months back, I used a Fiamma Pro cycle rack for our Hymer B544 (2012).

The rack is adjustable in length, it has brackets that are fixed to the Hymer brackets at the top, the bottom part is fastened at a point to suit the van. We looked inside to see where we could drill the fixings through and get the spreader plates on inside the wardrobe. You have to measure a few times but basically put it where you can.

Cheaper here than through Hymer dealer.

if you have a towbar fitted racks can also go on there easier to load than high racks

Bought mine from John Cross motorhomes...its a Fiamma made for Hymers.

Thanks for the replies I will mull on it and see which way to go as I've just had a tow bar fitted.

Remember if you have bike carrier fitted, you can also use the tow bar. if you want a couple of pictures or measurements let me know.

If you could send me some pictures that would be great, is it a simple job of bolting the top of the rack onto the existing bracket/lugs that are on the motorhome.

If you look at the carrier I put a link to it has hooks at the top. Hymer put carrier plates on back, at moment they will probably have plastic covers on you remove to uncover the plates. You then have to fix the new brackets onto those plates, then fix bottom bracket where suitable as the bike carrier is quite adjustable in length.

Fiamma supply all the bits you need and instructions, assuming you buy the Hymer one. I'm away to Skye so will post some piccies on Monday.
