Hi All

I have the unenviable task of removing the headlight unit from a 2011 B544 Hymer as the sidelight bulb has failed and I can't reach it to change it - I also think a wire may have come loose too hence the removal......gulp!

Has anyone had the misfortune to have to do this and if so would you be very kind and share your knowledge please?

I have attached a photo of the headlight unit in question.

Many thanks in advance.

Open the bonnet ank you I think you will see three bolts.

Removing them is easy bit and then you have figure out Hymer wriggled it in there.
It may help if you move the cable which is in the way.

Advice from AI......

Accessing the rear of the headlight assembly, which might require removing a cover or panel.
Detaching any electrical connectors linked to the headlight.
Unscrewing or unclipping the fasteners holding the headlight in place. In some models, a pin mechanism may be involved.
Carefully pulling the headlight assembly out of its housing.
It's worth noting that specific procedures can vary depending on the exact model and year of the Hymer motorhome

Thanks - I think there is a type of friction mount that requires a bit of a tug to free the unit - I did come across a thread where someone had removed the light unit but I am hoping someone may have a little more info.

It's very awkward to detach the connectors hence the removal - I am sure someone must have done it....I hope!

On my older X250 Ducato, I have to remove both the upper trim above the light and the trim below.
Open the bonnet and on mine, there is one screw that holds the lower trim and two that holds the top, all three are accessed along the junction where the bonnet meets the light cluster. Now I can CAREFULLY pull the trim away as they may be brittle, peel them backwards.

You will then find 3,x 10mm bolts that hold the light in.
After these have been removed, the light cluster pulled forward, you have access to the bulbs.

Perhaps, if your nervous, have a look on YouTube, I'm sure there must be a video but it's easy once you have done it once.

Good Luck! 👍

Had to remove ours last year to replace bulb (2007 B654 SL). On ours the triangular panel at the top has a vented appearance with two screw fixings just down from top edge. Removed panel to reveal one or two fixings for the light unit which, along with some more fixings revealed when opening the bonnet. I’m pretty sure that there were no light fixings along the bottom edge, so with all of the top fixings removed the light lifted out. I thought, before I started, that there would be a fixing at the bottom (behind the small chromed panel) but I feel sure that there wasn’t. Make sure that you have a helper to give a hand to unplug the connections at the back. On yours the triangular panel (grey) at the top may just pull away - although from your wording you may have already removed this. Due to the cost of these lights, carefully is the word.

Not exactly the same model/year as yours but I think it may be helpful?

Looks like a few bolts and it will pull right out with maybe one of those solid clip/ball joint type mounts but doesn't look like anything other than the 3 bolts to me?

I just searched for that light fitting and I think this is what it looks like from behind etc.

Have a search of Coastal Motorhome Spares, they might be cheaper!

I had a 2012 B544 and also did the same, put LED's in the DRLs. I found it quite easy to remove the lights , just open the bonnet, the top quater above the light will come off and you can remove the headlight.

All sorted - the light was very simple to remove, three bolts as suggested, had to remove the Hymer grill which was straight forward so thank you to everyone who took the time and courtesy to reply and offer advice as very much appreciated.
