Does anyone please have any experience in replacing these as I think mine are a little weak but then they are 20 years old! I’m not sure if I once heard there was a video on doing this but any advice would be very much appreciated

Thanks Martin but I fancy doing it myself and I also got my struts from Darren at Brownhills

It’s not a easy job by all acounts, he had a small lad up in the bed helping him do it, a bit of swearing as well, the new struts I got were updated by a fair few Newton meters which makes putting the bed up really easy now.

You'll need a small monkey with very long ambidextrous arms that can lie upside down in a very small space whilst brandishing 2 spanners, all whilst you hold the bed up whilst passing nuts, bolts and struts to the little monkey. All with lots of sweary words between you. tell the wife to go shopping as well

What was the price for the job Martin?

I've not done a hymer bed but a bongo roof.

If compression required use a rachet strap with bits of carpet at the ball ends.(to prevent them going through the strap.
