As of today, 23/8/22 minus a few weeks! ( deposit paid, awaiting collection)
Good Morning!

I like bridges!

On Saturday we will be crossing the Humber Bridge ( northward) on our journey to Whitby. I would like to spend an hour or so exploring the bridge and surrounds.
Any advice/knowledge of best place to head for that’s motorhome friendly for parking. (Autotrail Tracker 6.3m)
Also best practice for toll paying?

Thanks

Phil in Northampton

The bridge parking on the Hull side was closed a few weeks ago when we went past. That turning is on your left just after the tolls.

You can park under it at both sides but the best view I think, is from the north.

See the pic and coords below. It's an easy walk from here to get directly under the bridge, and just carry on to a small park area, an old windmill and a pub.

No problem with your motorhome through the tolls.

At the other (southern) end, just on the outskirts of Barton on Humber is the Ropewalk, a series of craft shops and a bit of history, also a water/nature visitors centre.

There is ease parking in the nearby Tesco but I can't remember if there are barriers down at the Waters edge car park, but there were some at the car park near the Viking way cafe.

As you come over the bridge from the south, pass through the toll booths and the car park entrance is the next left. That entrance is temporarily closed, not the car park, just carry on to the roundabout, take the first left, on to the next roundabout, first left and the car park entrance is on the right after a couple of hundred yards where the road dips. There’s no parking charge.

If you don't have an account you have to pay the toll with a credit or debit card. They do not accept cash.
Best thing is to pay online after 1pm the following day. That way you simply drive through the “tag” lane and avoid all the toll booth queues.

In any case beware when heading north…… you will be passing through Minxy land

Get up there early and watch Hull City thrash Coventry on Friday night. Some tickets still available ;)
