Good afternoon
there are 2 wires coming form the Jack plug, one black and the other black with a white tracer. Which one goes to the live feed cable which is 12 volt.

I intend to fit an inline 2 amp fuse on the live side.

Thanks
Derry

The white tracer'd wire is "normally" negative, so your fuse goes in line on the all-black wire. You could always get a multimeter and test to be 100%...

If it's the 12v supply to the magnetic docking station then the black wire is positive wire and the black/white is supposed to be the negative wire, but often they are swapped around to follow the black negative old skool convention so the only way to find out is to check for the wire continuity at the plug at the docking station.

The 5577 is 5v.
Lenny. Sorry I should have explained the Jack plug goes into the top of the magnetic docking station. Going on what dunnah01 (above) is saying I need to fit the inline fuse into to solid black cable. Should I fit a 2amp fuse or larger.

Thanks Derry

! amp would be more than enough I think.

As Lenny HB says its 5v you need a step down converter like this. I run my Raspberry Pi and the Hauwei MiFi on one.

That's what I use for mine but he has a docking station, didn't tell us that in the first post.

A big thank you to all responders. All now sorted and working absolutely fine. Just need to swap the 2amp fuse to a 2amp, when next in town.

Once again many many thanks.

1amp
