I have a 2013 possl 2win pvc campervan and the seat in the dinette is the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever sat on. Does anyone know a fix for this or the reason it’s so damn uncomfortable?

Probably because it's dual purpose, a travel seat and part of a bed.

The vehicle manufacturers spend millions on designing seats for the van drivers to spend long working days... motorhome convertors just knock up a bit of mdf & foam cushions.

But it could be you're just the wrong shape to fit :imoutahere:

Watching with interest as we also have a back breaking seat to watch the telly, sadly had to in this years UK weather, and most likely a killer to travel on. The water tank is under the seat so easy access required.

Most of them look very uncomfortable even when they don’t turn into a bed, I just wanted travel seats so bought a double minibus seat which are ideal as they have integral seat belts. They are only used for travelling as we just turn the cab seats around when parked up. They also take up more space which is also a reason why manufacturers have the upright ones.

Well thanks for that 😐
But seriously the ex wife done nothing but complain about it and now that I’m travelling alone I tried to sit at the table and read a book and IT IS excruciatingly uncomfortable 😳

Remember seeing one in a PVC where the base pulled forward and the backrest then reclined a bit. It may have been in a Font Verdome their designs are quite inovoative.

A good carpenter and a great upholsterer will recreate an excellent seat. But it won't be cheap done really well

I have just tried searching for photos of one I made on a conversion I built. The seat base was attached by hinges to the back rest and as you slid the base forward the back rest slid down and reclined. The kick board also hinged up as an upholstered foot rest. I mounted all this on a steel subframe with a seatbelt and the reclining seat locked in the upright position with a pair of large sprung gate bolts. I got the idea from a reclining chair in the house and after a couple of iterations of the foam and upholstery it was very comfortable

Sad thing is that I can't find the drive they are stored on, but hopefully, you get the idea by my description above

When you say uncomfortable, in which way: too short, too long, too hard, too soft, too high, too low, too narrow, too wide, no support, too much support or just the wrong shape altogether?

It's not that difficult a DIY project as long as you do not want seatbelts.

that is what our Timberland PVC has..
as you describe, the base pulls out and locks in position, the back then lays back giving a comfortable couch .. pulling out further it males into a couple bed..

As donkeu said, in what way is it uncomfortable? As sn example, we have a 2022 Burstner Lyseo TD680G. One of the things we really liked about it and why we purchased it were the opposing bench seats. However, on our first trip away it became apparent that the seat bottoms weren't deep enough to offer effective under thigh support, resulting in a very uncomfortable seating position quite quuckly. After a bit of head scratching we simply placed the back rests on the bottom board instead of on top of the bottom cushion (which is how it came) and voila! An extra 3" under the thighs and it has transformed the seating experience.

If you can find who makes Auto - Sleeper upholstery and you like a firm seat or bed , our bed is made up of 4 cushions, we bought a topper thinking 4 cushions would be uncomfortable, used topper once, now just put bottom sheet on and we find bed really comfortable cannot feel joins.
