Well thanks for thatProbably because it's dual purpose, a travel seat and part of a bed.
The vehicle manufacturers spend millions on designing seats for the van drivers to spend long working days... motorhome convertors just knock up a bit of mdf & foam cushions.
But it could be you're just the wrong shape to fit![]()
I have just tried searching for photos of one I made on a conversion I built. The seat base was attached by hinges to the back rest and as you slid the base forward the back rest slid down and reclined. The kick board also hinged up as an upholstered foot rest. I mounted all this on a steel subframe with a seatbelt and the reclining seat locked in the upright position with a pair of large sprung gate bolts. I got the idea from a reclining chair in the house and after a couple of iterations of the foam and upholstery it was very comfortableRemember seeing one in a PVC where the base pulled forward and the backrest then reclined a bit. It may have been in a Font Verdome their designs are quite inovoative.
It's not that difficult a DIY project as long as you do not want seatbelts.A good carpenter and a great upholsterer will recreate an excellent seat. But it won't be cheap done really well
that is what our Timberland PVC has..Remember seeing one in a PVC where the base pulled forward and the backrest then reclined a bit. It may have been in a Font Verdome their designs are quite inovoative.
