So i got a really good deal buying this teak marine table because it's a bit clunky and stiff to close it.

So i want to try and lube it but to make it a bit easier but before i cock it up wanted to get some opinions on what's best to use.

I have:
WD40
Olive oil
Engine oil
White lithium grease spray

Ideally one of those so i don't have to buy one more thing.

Also, to fit it i have to drill a hole through the floor so a cup type mount will go there so i can drop the table leg into it.
Has anyone here already been through this process and have tips on how best to make the hole?

I know nothing about the subject but would use home made Beeswax (virgin oil based) and then ask if it was the right thing to do

Looking at your list...Are you talking about lubing the mechanism or the wood.

Having trouble understanding the question. Are you lubricating the mechanism or protecting the wood? I'm assuming it is the mechanism so don't use WD40 it is principally a water dispersant (clue is in the name). Olive oil is intended for cooking but might work. Either of the last 2 choices seem better to me.

Yes its the mechanism that's sticking, opening and closing the leaves if the table. Will try the spray lithium grease first then

Coconut oil is best for cooking. Olive oil best on salads as it degrades under heat and can become carcinogenic i found out recently

I'm interested in what you think of the table. My van has a huge lounge table that's great... But it's a pain to get around. So I was looking at one of these marine folding table tops.

I agree entirely about olive oil and usually use colza (rape seed) for cooking which is healthier but have never tried coconut oil. A knowledgeable friend uses it for mayonnaise but it is not easy to find around here.
