As many of us use a mobile phone not only for calls but also for web stuff I think it's okay to put this in this section of the forum! :giggle:

Anyway, watching a recorded Martin Lewis Money Show tonight he mentioned a way to find your Android phone even if it is on 'silence' by making it ring! I didn't know this was possible but I've tried it and it does work not only showing the location on a Google map but you can also make it ring loudly so you can hear it.

Just go to a browser and put in: www.android.com/find

You can do similar for iphones too but I didn't get the details of the site to go to in order to do that (I don't have one).

Just log on to iCloud and find/manage your device even remotely wipe the data from it be it your Mac IPhone tablet etc.

I think Find My Device is the app you need from the Google App store.

You can zoom the map in to street level of course.

Blimey Mel have you only just found that out.:xrofl:
You also want to make sure you leave "Location" turned on or you won't be able to see it on a map. A few years ago the boss lost her phone in the new forest, I soon found out the silly moo had left it at home.

One of our Android phones was lost in Benidorm of all places. We thought that was that and would never see it again. We didn't need any app. We used the other phone and in the Google search box we put 'find my phone'. We followed the instructions on the screen.

Firstly as Lenny says, if Location is switched on, you can see on a map where the phone is. It was about 300 metres away from us, but not moving. Next you're asked if you want to disable the phone. Which we did. However, you can then send a message to the phone. We just put "please contact this phone number".

To our amazement we got a call from the phone. It allowed who had it to make a call to us. Somebody had handed it in to the tourist info office.

School of life for us on this occasion:

1. Technology is excellent and made it easy for us to get the phone back.

2. Whatever people think about certain places in the world. It's not the place but the people who matter. Especially the one who took a walk to the Tourist info office to hand in our phone.
