I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place. I'm new here and haven't quite got the hang of it yet so please tell me if I need to move it elsewhere. Thanks.

I am thinking about buying a motorhome for the first time but am not sure how you actually find the best campsites? I am not young and would like to find quiet campsites rather than family ones. I have nothing at all against children, after all I was one once and I do like them actually but at my age I just crave peace and quiet so there's no point in me lying about it :o Is it possible to find quiet places to stop or is a motorhome perhaps not the right thing for me? Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

If you join one of the two big clubs Caravan and Motorhome Club or Caravan and Camping Club you could use their network of smaller 5 van sites called CL's and CS's, I think the ones without electric hook up can be nice and quiet as most families want electric for all the kids toy's.

as martin says the two big clubs have a network of 5 van sites called CL's and CS's they are great for a few days away, cost circa £10-£12 per night and you can filter by ADULT sites only

Agree and the fees on CL's etc. are now creeping up as more people demand more and better facilities. When we started a basic CL could be had for £3 - last week the cheapest we could find in the area we were visiting was £8 and that was just a sheep field with a tap and access to a septic tank. 'Twas nice and quiet though and we were on our own (well apart from a zillion sheep!)

Once you're experienced you can of course make decisions based on your knowledge but a complete newbie, as is the OP, may be better off investing in a CMC or CCC membership while she (?) finds her feet. At least you're clear about what you're getting.

We always got our money back on discounted ferry fares so anything after that was a bonus, you need to be a member to use CL and CS network and the club sites are very expensive if you are not a member, it's all about choice really.

A good starting point to avoid school age children is to avoid school holidays - but I suppose that is too obvious.

For real peace and quiet in France join France Passion (EUR 25 per year), though that will only get you a parking space most of the time.

Quiet ... apart from a zillion sheep! Yes, sheep are noisy animals and they refuse to shut up after 10 pm. They go on all night. Relentless.

:welcome4:to Fun Finella. You've had some good pointers already and another is to join Fun as a paid up member. For £15 you'll get plenty of advice and answers to a multitude of questions. You've used up your five free posts as a non subscriber but there is so much more on here to see.
