You got off lightly then....Just been quoted over £18 for a grass pitch with no EHU at a club site, so the war cry was heard as I relayed the amount. So we will be BritStopping instead (and our supper at our hosts will cost less than the pitch at site - and it's at a more convenient location to our route)

£18 will buy a bloody good meal for two 'round here - and maybe a drink or two.
If we all stop paying that kind of money just for parking for the night, they might just get the idea that MoHo's have more options.
Or they might just start reporting pubs and the like that operate without a license or exemption.they might just get the idea that MoHo's have more options.
Yes it’s funny how campsites arrre the first to moan about any stopover that’s not with themOr they might just start reporting pubs and the like that operate without a license or exemption.

What's wrong with "moaning" (if that is the right word) about people acting outside the law?Yes it’s funny how campsites arrre the first to moan about any stopover that’s not with them
Supply & demand John. The clubs are pushing it as they know most folks will complain..... And still pay.
Supply & demand John.
Just like supermarkets charging different prices for petrol depending on the competition in the area.
, low price & high volume or high price & low volume.
I understand the mechanics, having run a business, but it isn't purely about price.Maybe, or maybe a change in philosophy.
In business there is always the dilemma, low price & high volume or high price & low volume. There are always those who cannot / will not live without EHU plus those who would not dream of not staying on a site, so let's fleece them.
A site near us has a a policy of 2 night minimum June to August for which they charge an eye watering £ 93.
They probably sponsor one of the adult channels or country and western tv.I notice the camping and caravaning club are advertising on the TV now. Can't remember what programme they're on with but they sponsor something. That must cost them thousands, guess who's paying?
Not us.
Ann says it's "This Morning"They probably sponsor one of the adult channels or country and western tv.
Except that, and despite which, their sites are always full? The caravan club has changed its name recently to the Caravan and Motorhome club now its time they changed their policy of ripping off the customers and started to realise the average working man or pensioner cant afford to pay a kings ransom t park for the night
Mainly those blinkered and deluded souls who can't see or won't explore the alternatives. If the site is still full, despite what some may feel are high prices, then the model will succeed as the overall package obviously appeals to the target market.
Maybe, or maybe a change in philosophy.

I disagree with the term rip off, John.Mainly those blinkered and deluded souls who can't see or won't explore the alternatives.
Regardless of how you paint it Graham, club pricing is a rip-off of the highest order.
The fact that something is not affordable by some people doesn't mean that it's a rip off or that prices have to be reduced as a result. The caravan club has changed its name recently to the Caravan and Motorhome club now its time they changed their policy of ripping off the customers and started to realise the average working man or pensioner cant afford to pay a kings ransom t park for the night

Spot on! Campsites only charge what they can charge because they fill the pitches. The two “clubs” often charge less than a lot of private sitesSupply and demand but hopefully the supply will increase to match the recent boom in motorhomes. The thing that will make the club sites drop prices is empty pitches
