My batteries were renewed last year. I'm on 78% midday today and it's raining. How low is OK for overnight please?

60% is considered ok for regular use.
Occasionally getting down to 50% won't do that much harm.

This is on the presumption it is a lead battery.

Did the BMS shut it off at that point?

It was fine Jon I have the cell low voltage protect set to 2.60v and pack low voltage set to 10.4v.

Edit: that's just under 4% left in the battery before hitting 2.5v

I thought the whole point of deep cycle batteries was that they would go down to about 20% without having any problems. Unlike repurposed starter batteries that start to shed their plate materials if they go below about 50%. As long as they are taken to 100% full about once a month to clean out the sulfation they should be fine.
