How important is on-site wifi?

Not essential. I’ve just tried to post today’s quiz and house WiFi not working. Not leaving my warm bed to look at it so just reached for phone. Although I can’t motorhome any longer have stated in holiday properties occasionally and usually just tether to my phone. Makes me use a screen far less than st home :)
Different story if you need the net for work though.

As the wife works in a school we go to a 5 star Spanish site for much of the summer with our offspring in tow for part of the time . Over the last few years we have used a mixture of Mifi, tethering and the camp wifi. 5 years ago they had wifi which worked at off peak times due to usage which our kids used by the hour and I had a mifi. 3 years ago they introduced pitches with broadband routers to pitches. We didn't pay for the privilege. Last year all my offspring had enough minutes on their phones to last the two weeks, 3/4g was slow because of the number of users, it was OK a mile down the road. We watched a number of football matches and the way to get a good service was to either drive to a nearby town or as we did, buy the camp wifi for 2 hours which was now so little used it had become viable and gave a rock steady service.
Campsites are often going to suffer from having a low indigenous population nearby for much of the year then having high demand. The cost of running and maintaining a wifi service these days must be questionable. As with many motorhome facilities there is always another gizmo to get water into your tank, elongate the life of your battery and weight saving alternatives.
