the stress of solicitors and everything else makes the whole isssue of owning another motorhome has put me off.

thank you, but how do i get a warranty for it, as i wouldnt buy without one now
With respect, if this comment refers to you buying another Motorhome AFTER you have sold Dolly, that is something you would need to research with the seller if sold by a dealer.
If sold privately, I doubt this would be applicable unless the vehicle is covered by an unexpired warranty from a previous private sale.

If you are referring to trying to get a warranty for Dolly so you can sell her, and would not want a prospective buyer to purchase without one, I personally think you are entering into a further world of hurt, but admire your sentiments and approach.

On a very personal note, if it was myself, I would retrieve the vehicle, try and get it fixed as best you can and to your satisfaction ( bearing in mind it's not brand new) and get out and enjoy it, with a membership to the AA or RAC and/or a recovery service and accept that older vehicles will, in time, need looking after regularly and can cost money to upkeep, just like a car does.
Even brand new vehicles are not without fault, motorhomes or otherwise.
I sincerely hope you are able to get this fixed, and I am fairly certain there will be someone somewhere who can sort out your issues, as it seems a very common engine and gearbox combination.
From the pictures posted, Dolly looks to be a very nice and extremely usable van to enjoy.
I wish you good wishes in getting sorted.

Why do you want to take back a defective vehicle, I thought you had got a partial result from the dealer and that you were sueing them for a refund ,or is that not the case now.?

dear sweet caroline

just my point of view as the Forum Joker, slightly behind old mo.

I've looked back through your posts and have been in a similar position. In 20 years I have bought 7 or is it 9 motorhomes? not sure, probably more. From 20k to 100k and one that burst in to flames. But one van in particular put me in a similar corner.

1) Loads asking you to name the dealer. Don't! it will not help your case. It "could" potentially even cloud your case.
2) If you are selling, get the gearbox fixed, get it looked at and sell it on, privately.
3) you are going to lose money, lots of it. Sorry, I'm just honest, you lose money regardless, in fact my obsession with changing motorhomes to buy "my last ever van" has cost me over 100k over those years. So you need to accept that sadly,
4) Rejecting the vehicle under the consumer credit act is monotonous and not easy to prove. Dealers of motor vehicles are well aware of this they know the rules better than you, me, those on this forum and even probably your solicitor that you may end up spending money on seeking advice.

So my advice would be one of two things and look and think about these options.

1) fix and sell
2) sell as is but being honest.

Both will sell, you will lose money but reading your post you seem like a person that matches their forum name so will be able to sleep at night. Money, comes and goes. always has always will.
Put it behind you..

But in your thread title, it seems you seek Gods help, Trust me, he won't help you.... God definitely controls this forum, but not all of it, some of it is still ran by Jim

I do hope that having sold it, you return to the forum, seek some advice, buy another, and enjoy the motorhoming community. We're a great bunch, well most are.

My twopenneth, I would definitely have it back, it might as he says be fixed now, no one knows without trying it, and you can put it all behind you and start using it, it also looks a very nice van at the price.
If it has indeed had a new gearbox I honestly can't see the problem being more than sticking cables.
But don't take anything on here as gospel though, you or someone should try it out.

My advice for what it is worth. You have already spent money, and time doing it up internally to your own taste.
Don't let the tosser of a dealer put you off living your dream, we all have problems at times with our vans, yours can only get better.
Dolly probably needs you as much as you need her.
Stick with the dream. (y)

If the gear selector is the only issue and you love everything else..... I would get that fixed and know you have a great Motorhome to start exploring. All leisure vehicles have some issue some time.

I would get a decent Mechanic to sort it, as I’m sure it just adjustment , that’s if a nee box was fitted and keep it.
If selling you could use Facebook marketplace.
